Position Summary
The Natural Sciences Department at Oregon Institute of Technology seeks applicants for a fulltime ninemonth tenuretrack position at the Assistant Professor level to start in September 2021. The primary focus of this position is on excellent teaching and the successful candidates instructional responsibilities will include introductory and general chemistry courses for allied health environmental sciences and engineering majors. Applicants must have superior communication skills a strong commitment to supporting student success and dedication to highquality instruction and undergraduate research. Ideal candidates will have a record of teaching effectiveness and of applying innovative best practices in undergraduate courses. The position will also offer the opportunity for the candidate to teach upperdivision courses related to the candidates background. The faculty member will become involved with proactive academic advising within our department; institutional service may include serving on university committees and participation in departmental initiatives. As a faculty member they will collaborate productively with other faculty in the chemistry group and support continuous program assessment and improvement. While the core responsibility of this position is excellent teaching undergraduate research and scholarly activity are also expected. The faculty member will engage students in undergraduate research projects in their area of expertise adding to Oregon Techs growing culture of student research engagement. Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated excellence in instruction through past teaching experience. A background that complements existing strengths in the B.S. Environmental Sciences and/or B.S. BiologyHealth Sciences programs within the department. We are particularly interested in candidates whose background intersects with environmental sciences biological sciences or engineering and who have the capabilities and interest in mentoring undergraduate research projects.
