DEPARTMENT Clinical Research Unit Neurology
Neurology is a developing specialty within Alfred Health and recent investment has produced significant growth in this area particularly with regard to research and clinical trials. Neurology at Alfred Health consists of inpatient units and a range of specialised outpatient clinics.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Research Assistant is sought to contribute towards the research efforts of Alfred Health and Monash University and to the specific goals and priorities within the Epilepsy Neuromodulation service. The goals of the Epilepsy Neuromodulation service are to: improve understanding of epilepsy and epileptogenesis find novel neuromodulationbased treatments for epilepsy improve existing neuromodulationbased therapies for epilepsy improve epilepsy diagnostics improve epilepsy outcomes and reduce and prevent morbidity and mortality in epilepsy. The Research Assistant will work on cuttingedge research projects and prospective clinical trials of neuromodulation therapies neurodiagnostics devices and fundamental neuroscience. This will involve (but not be limited to) identifying suitable patients for inclusion in research projects and clinical trials organising appointments and assessments as per the study protocol and schedule conducting study visits managing device/consumable inventory and requisitions liaising with industry partners and meticulous record keeping and trial documentation. The role will involve both prospective and retrospective data collection curation processing and analysis to support internal review provide preliminary data for grant applications and data for scientific publications.
