Job Description
The Assistant Director works consultatively on projects utilizing data to aid strategic and tactical decisions providing accurate timely and comprehensive analysis reporting and visualizations. In addition the role must demonstrate knowledge of fundraising fundamentals strategies and trends in philanthropy and data analysis. This position expected to have knowledge and experience in applying data science to inform fundraising recommendations and strategies. The role provides structure and vision to the fundraising process by way of comprehensive and strategic analysis of donor pools; donor pipelines; and presentation of meaningful research data as it relates to ongoing fundraising activities and new fundraising initiatives
Responsibilities
Execute approaches to data mining as an organized process including the business understanding phase the data understanding phase the exploratory data analysis phase the modeling phase the evaluation phase and the deployment phase. Demonstrate mastery of techniques and best practices. Support the development and implementation of advanced analytics including segmentation optimization prescriptive analytics and machine learning algorithm & recommendation to solve business problems. Collaborate with crossfunctional partners to understand their business needs formulate and complete endtoend analysis that includes data gathering analysis ongoing scaled deliverables and presentations. Deliver effective presentations of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership. Develop and automate reports iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale solving for analytical needs. Facilitate implementation of work product and ensure accuracy. Consistently follow standard work processes and documentation requirements. Recommend improvements to work processes. Create innovative analyses and interpretations of current and potential donor data research representative of all units to meet data needs for strategy development. Provide extensive analysis and accurate timely and strategic data and information in reports including an evaluation of results and recommendations for cultivation strategies. Develop meaningful collaborative relationships with gift officers with the goal of assisting in prospect identification qualification and strategy. Continuously improve technical skills through training and development. Become knowledgeable and remain updated about the history accomplishments and strategic goals of the University. Provide timely and accurate information regarding trends in the philanthropy industry to appropriate development staff members. Handle highly confidential information with tact and discretion. Adhere to ethical and confidentiality guidelines of both the University and the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement APRA Other duties as assigned.
