Job Description

OPEN UNTIL FILLED AFTER 10 DAY REQUIRED POSTING

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to

fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth. Enable

students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

Retired from the US Air Force within the last 5 years or have applied for retirement within the last 6 months w/minimum of twenty years of active service required
Must meet appropriate criteria to be classified as a JROTC instructor in accordance with governing agency

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of assigned curriculum; knowledge of instructional methods

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Lesson planning skills

Lesson presentation skills

Conflict resolution skills

Classroom management skills

Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills

Technology skills as related to classroom presentation and record keeping

Strong knowledge of Internet and webrelated technology

Ability to instruct students using a variety of technology applications and platforms

Ability to support students with computer setup navigation and technology issues

Work Conditions

Tools/Equipment Used:Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals video/instructional equipment

Posture:Frequent standing and walking; bending/stooping and reaching fully above head pushing pulling and twisting

Motion:Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; reaching

Lifting:Occasional lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds)

Environment:Work inside from school home or location other than school building may work outside; regular exposure to noise and computer monitors; may work prolonged or irregular hours; attend after school and nighttime activities occasionally; work inside and outside (exposure to sun heat cold and inclement weather) exposure to noise; occasional districtwide and statewide travel

Mental Demands:Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; ability to respond to needs in a timely manner in a highstress environment

Regular Attendance is an essential function

Minimum Experience:

University/college required student teaching or approved internship

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Instructional Management

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans for in person and virtual learning that fulfill the requirements of districts curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences.

  3. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies activities materials equipment and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency board policies and administrative regulations.

  5. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the student groups involved.
  6. Cooperatively meet and plan with other members of the staff to implement instructional goals objectives and methods in accordance with district requirements.
  7. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  8. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s).
  9. Employ the use of technology in the teaching/learning process.

Student Growth and Development

  1. Assist students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study.
  2. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formative and summative assessments and track progress through a variety of methods.
  3. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor outside activities approved by the school.
  4. Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the school district.
  5. Create an inperson and virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of students.

Classroom Management and Organization

  1. Establish effective classroom management and administer discipline in accordance with board policies administrative regulations and campus management plans.
  2. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  3. Assist in the selection of books equipment and other instructional materials.

Communication

  1. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents.
  2. Be available by phone email or video conferencing to confer with district personnel students and/or parents.
  3. Communicate with students or parents on a regular basis via phone or video conference email or districtapproved website.
  4. Maintain a positive and professional relationship with all colleagues students parents and community members through effective communication both verbal and written.
  5. Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Professional Growth and Development

  1. Participate in the district staff development program to improve job related skills.
  2. Participate and positively contribute to grade level and campus level collaboration.
  3. Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
  4. Demonstrate behavior that is professional ethical and responsible.
  5. Keep informed of and comply with state district and school regulations.
  6. Compile maintain and file all reports records and other documents required.
  7. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities and serve on staff committees as required.

Other

  1. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  2. Perform such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
  3. Comply with state district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers including the Texas Educator Code of Ethics.

JROTC Duties

1. Maintain liaison with Air Force representatives in academics logistics finance and academic areas to ensure effective utilization of Air Force resources.

3.Ensure the integration of the AFJROTC program into the school environment by cultivating a positive atmosphere of cooperation with school community veterans and parental groups; participating in student information programs and public service actions; and ensuring AFJROTC is established and remains a separate integral academic and administrative department of the institution.
4.Plan organize and instruct aerospace science and leadership education academic courses in compliance with this instruction and other applicable directives. Ensure all courses meet minimum required hours of course content and organize a curriculum model to complement the local school curriculum plan.
5.Ensure effective development of cadet leaders and supervise cadet operations and activities. Plan organize and direct corps organization.
6.Develop and supervise curriculuminaction (CIA) trips associated student fundraising and other cocurricular activities. NOTE: Cocurricular activities are a critical component of a successful AFJROTC unit. Operation and supervision of co curricular activities are a shared responsibility between the SASI and ASI(s).
7.Ensure each AFJROTC student participates in the AFJROTC curriculum as prescribed by the school state and the Air Force.
8.Follow AFJROTC financial procedures and maintain financial accountability in accordance with AFJROTC policy.
9. Participate in career improvement efforts such as inservice training workshops and advanced educational courses for professional development as required by AFJROTC school state or federal directives or laws.
