- Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree.
- Professional Designations CIP CRM CPCU preferred.
- Extensive underwriting experience across the construction and energy industry preferably with exposure to large accounts.
- Robust insured and broker contacts.
- Robust negotiation and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

The Underwriting Manager position is responsible for the profitable production and underwriting of Construction and Energy accounts from retail brokers across Canada. This person will also be the point person for all contruction lines within Canada working closely with each of the profit center heads to set strategy and develop businessplan for the region. This person will operate as the Canadian Team Lead and guide others in the production/retention of profitable Construction Property Construction Casualty Construction Professional/Pollution and Energy Property coverages.
This position is key in driving the successful of the units strategic plan with particular emphasis on growth and excellent service standards.

What will your essential responsibilities include
- Coordinate/facilitate/lead new business renewals repricings restrictions special acceptances commutations and cancellations in determining risk acceptability & coverage in accordance with underwriting guidelines and authorities.
- Lead and grow the Construction and Energy underwriting team in Canada.
- Assist in generating Revenue and Expense budgets and maintain compliance with them.
- Possesses a depth of underwriting expertise in Construction and Energy will handle the more complex accounts etc. and leverage that knowledge to lead and develop others.
- Foster communication and responsible for coordination with other areas that support our businessnamely Claims Risk Engineering Actuarial Underwriting Support Financial Credit Control Billing Marketing and Compliance/ Regulatory.
The position reports directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer (Large Commercial) Canada.
