Job Description

The schoolbased Team Leader is responsible for the daily clinical and administrative operation of the schoolbased mental health program including interactions with students students families school personnel interdisciplinary personnel local and state governing bodies ICL personnel and administration and the N.Y. State Office of Mental Health. The Team Leader will also provide appropriate and clinically indicated services to children adolescents parents and families in an onsite schoolbased satellite clinic and support services at HPC as needed. Provides inservice training collateral contact and support to teachers and school personnel. Maintains clinical records within all Federal State and City regulations documenting all services provided.

  • Establish compliance with Federal State and City regulations
  • Collaborate and work with other Integrated Program Directors on a regular basis
  • Provide direct clinical supervision to clinical staff
  • Provide skills to train families school personnel and students
  • Provide classroombased consultation and training in behavior management and inclusion theory and strategies
  • Provide administrative supervision to all staff
  • Address any pending referrals conduct initial intakes if needed
  • Oversee mandated levels of services
  • Participate in the development of a program budget as needed
  • Lead a utilization review committee as needed
  • Lead interdisciplinary team disposition committee as needed
  • Train staff to maintain clinical records in accordance with all City State and Federal regulations as per the City Mental Health and OASAS the State Office of Mental Health and the State of New York Department of Health.
  • Coordinate research and evaluation of projects; collect data complete electronic submission of data regularly and submit written quarterly and annual reports.
  • Schedule inagency training/inservice programs with OMH and other participatory school programs
  • Report weekly to the Vice President of Integrated Services
  • Consult with school personnel as needed for crisis intervention
  • Perform other duties as requested

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Committed to equity antiracism and active promotion of the ICL equity goals and action steps.
  • Strong clinical writing skills; ability to accurately document counseling sessions demonstrating an understanding of mental health status recoveryoriented treatment planning and psychiatric and substance harm reduction techniques
  • Computer proficiency. Ability to master electronic health record software use word processing programs and computer programs and applications to provide telehealth as required
  • Cultural competency is essential.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highpressure mental health crisis environment
  • Ability to maintain composure and demonstrate traumainformed PersonCentered care to clients in a crisis. Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to follow procedures and instructions; prioritize think logically and advocate professionally.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and supports the clinics mission vision values standards and code of ethical behavior.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with clients colleagues the public other agencies and their staff and thirdparty insurance personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education & Experience

  • Masters degree in social work (LCSW) or in a related field and valid state certification
  • Minimum of 5 years experience with children and familiesexperience in a schoolbased setting preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive administrative and/or managerial experience

Job Knowledge

  • Must have an excellent understanding of state OMH and DOH and city DMH regulations.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills are a must
  • Successful track record of leading diverse interdisciplinary staff is essential
