Astor & Sanders Corporation (Astor) is an awardwinning IT solutions provider. Astor is headquartered in Rockville MD and is seeking a Database Developer. This position is based in the McLean VA area with some travel to Rockville MD. A hybrid remote work model may be available for consideration.
Roles and Responsibilities
Support a complex program to provide Agile database development and operations and maintenance for critical systems
Be responsible for maintaining all aspects of the database servers to include but not limited to backup/recovery performance monitoring capacity planning patching and upgrading problem diagnosis and remediation and logical and physical design of all databases
Ensure all database servers are operating under current versions applicable to current software needs after thorough testing to ensure proper operations on all applicable machines
Provide and maintain use of approved tools to maintain physical and logical database design for batch job processing and to monitor the performance of production database servers
Ensure the highest security level is provided to ensure access to all database servers is only available to those users with appropriate needs. A comprehensive plan shall be developed to maintain internal security measures from usernames to proper password usage
Support security standards and audits by ensuring database servers implement applicable security controls
Resolve findings 100 within the specified timeframe
Develop and maintain protocols to associate approved security checklists for all database system environments
Remediate database security vulnerabilities
Provide security status information as required
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field
5 years experience integrating data from disparate sources
6 years of experiences in relational database development
Expert proficiency in all flavors of Structured Query Language (SQL)
Experience with Oracle and MySQL
Experience with database development life cycle using Agile methodologies
Proficient with data modeling tools
Experience delivering Oracle and AWS RDS that comply with federal standards for security 508 and records management
5 years data warehouse experience. Candidate must have experience with designing data warehouse schemas
Experience deploying into AWS Cloud environment
Skills in web development (Java or .NET)
Light skills in JavaScript development. An understanding of User Interface (UI) design principles is a plus
Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with multiple partners working teams and organizations
Ability to manage a complex task including shortterm and longterm planning goal and policy setting and monitoring accomplishments
