Job Description

General Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Specialized Transportation Director the Specialized Transportation Van Driver will transport students with disabilities on to and from school routes. Students are transported in vans or vehicles that are rated to transport 10 or fewer passengers.

Location:We transport students to White Salmon School District (Washington) and The Dalles (Oregon). Students are located in Goldendale Lyle and the White Salmon areas on the Washington gorge side. On occasion we may transport students from The Dalles OR to White Salmon WA. Vehicles are housed in White Salmon WA and Goldendale WA.

Salary:

The full hourly range will be $23.47 $27.01. Offers are made at the entry level of the range.

Assignment:
This position will be parttime working 2025 hours per week. The position is on a school year schedule to be in the 202425 school year there will be no work during school breaks (winter spring summer). The position will servestudents in Klickitat County.

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:

  1. OperatetheESD112vehicleinaccordancewiththeStateofWashingtonlawsandESDandprogrampoliciesandprocedures.
  2. Drive the ESD vehicle on scheduled routes and/or all trips and approvedactivities.
  3. Establishandmaintaineffectiveandcooperativecommunicationwithstudentsparentsschoolstaffpeersandsupervisors.
  4. Inspect clean and request maintenance service for the vehicle(s) and relatedequipment.
  5. Report unsafe acts or conditions which require the attention of any person other than thedriver.
  6. Contribute to and cooperate with the classroom instructional team including the teacher related services staff other educational assistants.

Other Functions:

  1. Supervise and maintain control ofstudents.
  2. Participate in staff meetings in service programs workshops and similar training or programevents.
  3. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 21 years of age orolder.
  2. Valid driverslicense.
  3. Ability to successfully complete state required driver training and to acquire and maintain a valid first aid and CPR card.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience working with students with disabilities or uniqueneeds.
  2. Experience in transportingstudents.
  3. Knowledge of programs and services for students with disabilities.

Working Conditions/Employment Requirements

Working Conditions:

  1. Operate ESD vehicle under a variety of roadconditions.
  2. PhysicalinterventionnecessarytoproperlyrestrainstudentsincompliancewithWashingtonStateWACsandEmergency Responseprotocol.
  3. Exposure to communicable diseases found in children andadolescents.
  4. Studentsmayusechallengingoroffensiveverbalizationstowardstaffandotherstudentswithpotentialforescalationtophysical aggression.
  5. Sitstandstooptoattendtostudentneedsandtoprovideinstruction.Strengthandagilitytoassistinphysicallymaintaininga safe learning environment to include emergency response protocols in compliance with Washington StateWACs.
  6. Able to work cooperatively in day treatment program setting.

Employment Requirements:

  1. Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol andFBI.
  2. Successful completion of Washington school bus driver training.
