Job Description

Junior Graphic Designer (New York)

We are seeking a motivated and determined Junior GraphicDesigner to join our team in our New York office. Applicants must have strongcorporate design and information graphic skills. You must also take directionwell understand tight deadlines scheduling and process management.

Responsibilities

The specific details of a junior designers role will varydepending on the project. The candidate will regularly need to:

  • Collaborate with and support two seniordesigners.
  • Execute design concepts that deliver on goalsand are technically feasible to implement.
  • Translate marketing/product ideas into effectivedesign (sell sheets promotional products report layouts PowerPoints datavisualizations/infographics etc.
  • Produce web content (emails promotionalmaterials social graphics and banner ads)
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the firm todeliver design elements on brand and to specification
  • Manage and prioritize multiple last minutecreative direction and multiple rounds of edits

Necessary skills

A junior designer needs a wide range of design and creativecapabilities. These include:

  • A bachelors degree in design or related field.
  • 13 years of design experience in a highvolume deadlinedrivenenvironment.
  • Expert proficiency in the latest versions of AdobeCreative Suite (InDesign Illustrator Photoshop) & Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPointWord Excel). HTML CSS and Javascript are a plus.
  • Attention to detail and good organizationalskills.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates fluency in allareas of visual design (have exceptional skills in typography layout colortheory information design).
  • The ability to manage competing projects andshifting priorities to meet deadlines all with a professional demeanor andpositive attitude.
  • Proactivity in anticipating problems proposingsolutions and initiating collaborative resolution.

From timetotime a junior graphic designer may need to workhours that arent typical so a flexible approach is needed to get the bestfrom the job. Most of our work is digital (either PDF or web) but we do havethe occasional need to print. Familiarity with both environments is useful. Additionallyan interest in global politics is helpful.
