Starting hourly rate:$22.69

The position is 8 hours per day 260 days per year.

This is anopenexamination. To be eligible for the position under this examination all applicants must be U.S. citizens or possess a valid permanent resident card. All applicants must be high school graduates or possess a G.E.D. and have no felony convictions.

Reports to: SUPERVISOR OF TRANSPORTATION
Required:- High school diploma or equivalent
- Civil service eligibility
- Valid School Bus Operators License or obtain one within a year
- Previous experience in the repair of diesel and gasoline engines
- Previous experience in the repair of standard and automatic transmissions
- Previous experience in tuneup and minor body repairs
- Previous experience in fixing and/or installation of brakes
- Physical ability to handle materials weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Physical ability to work in and under transportation vehicles
- Ability to work without supervision
- Cooperate and get along with others
- Honesty
- Work as a member of a team
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of a Transportation Mechanic include but are not limited to the following:- Diagnose and repair district automotive equipment
- Maintains a current inventory of supplies and equipment
- Promotes high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all workconnected areas
- Establishes an efficient and effective system of routine automotive maintenance and preventive care
- Works with highway patrol for inspection of school buses
- Keep accurate maintenance records
- Provides information for repairs
- Provides information regarding the sale and trade in values of vehicles
- Performs other duties as directed
Testing Information
SUBSEQUENT TO THE FILING OF THE APPLICATION THE CANDIDATES WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THE FORMAT LOCATION DATE AND TIME OF THE EXAMINATION.

RATING
Your name will be placed on a list of eligible candidates upon receiving a passing score. Once the list has been established your name will remain on the list for a period of one 1 year.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO VETERANS
As provided in ORC 124.23C any person who has completed service in the uniformed services who have been honorably discharged from the uniformed services or transferred to the reserve with evidence of satisfactory service and who is an Ohio resident and any member of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States including the Ohio National Guard who has completed more than 180 days of active duty service pursuant to an executive order of the President of the United States or an act of Congress of the United States may file with the director a certificate of service or honorable discharge (DD214 Long version) and upon this filing the person shall receive an additional credit of twenty percent 20 of the persons total grade given in the examination in which the person receives a passing grade.
A member in good standing of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States including the Ohio National Guard who successfully completes the members initial entrylevel training shall receive a credit of fifteen percent 15 of the persons total grade given in the examination in which the person receives a passing grade.
NOTICE OF DRUG TESTING REQUIREMENT
Pursuant to Civil Service Rules applicants are hereby advised that the position of employment being examined for is subject to a drug test. Accordingly eligibility is not considered final until drug testing has been successfully completed with a negative result.
