Golf Grounds Staff
Park Counts:
When:May 24Sept. 1 2025 (Memorial weekend through Labor Day)
Where:Various regional parks/trails
Estimated hours:Each shift is 2hour but can be assigned to multiple 2hour shifts throughout the day based upon availability.Counts will take place between 8 AM and 8 PM with the last count starting at 6 PM. The number of shifts may vary daily and weekly.
In this position staff will go to various regional park and trail locations throughout Ramsey County Park system. The park count staff is responsible for showing up to the assigned location on time count park users as they are entering the park/trail at the specific location and submitting the counts on time.Based on assignment this position will assist in the conducting of user surveys take counts of active park participants/visitors assist patrons as necessary and perform related duties as assigned.
Park Maintenance:
Where: Ramsey Countys parks trails and facilities.
Estimated hours: Weekdays 6:30 a.m.3 p.m. weekends 5 a.m.1 p.m. Fulltime hours available. There are two shifts but there is some flexibility. One shift is Tuesday through Saturday the other shift is Sunday through Thursday. Weekdays are 6:30 a.m.3 p.m. and weekends are 5 a.m.1 p.m. In a typical week a park aide typically works 40 hours with an opportunity to work more.
This position will assist maintenance and operations staff and/or other building staff located at Parks and Recreation facilities (such as the Golf Courses Nature Center and Parks) by cleaning buildings removing trash raking shoveling mowing trimming and perform related duties as assigned. This position will serve Ramsey County Parks Golf Courses Ice Arenas and Tamarack Nature Center. This position provides an opportunity to work outdoors during the summer doing a variety of tasks. Park maintenance works with fulltime staff to maintain the countys parks trails and facilities.
Golf Grounds CrewWhere:Keller Golf Course
Estimated hours:Weekdays 6 a.m. or earlier and some weekends. Fulltime and parttime hours available.The Golf Grounds Crew job is perfect for anyone who loves golf or working outdoors. In this position entrylevel staff will operate string trimmers push mowers backpack blowers utility vehicles and other equipment associated with the daily tasks of maintaining a golf course. In this position you can expect an outdoor work environment flexible scheduling uniforms and complimentary golf as available.

Examples of Work Performed

- Answer telephone calls and respond to public inquiries concerning County facilities.
- Answer questions from golfers arena users and nature center and park patrons.
- Sweep mop scrub and vacuum floors in parks and recreation facilities.
- Cut and trim grass using hand operated equipment and power mowers.
- Dispose of trash and trims trees.
- Assist in minor building and service equipment repairs.
- Shovel and blow snow.
- Change cups on greens move tee markers and rake sand bunkers.
- Complete paint touchup on signs equipment and buildings.
- Lay sod and repair turf damage.
- Operate scoreboards PA systems and/or other electronic systems or devices.
- Sharpen skates and collect tickets for skate rental.
- Assist in changing blades on ice making machines.
- Operate ice edgers.
- Patrol designated areas as assigned report disturbances and assist patrons as necessary.
- Conduct user surveys.
- Take tickets at admission gates.
(The work assigned to a position in this classification may not include all possible tasks in this work and does not limit the assignment of any additional tasks in this classification. Regular attendance according to the positions management approved work schedule is required.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Sufficient to perform the duties.
Experience: None.
Substitution: Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other: Must be 16 years of age.

This is a temporary atwill position. This position requires an open screening and selection process. Subdivision 1. General. The appointing authority may discharge employees in the unclassified service with or without cause. Employees in the unclassified service have no right to a grievance appeal from discharge or other disciplinary action under sections 383A.281 to 383A.301. An employee in an unclassified position shall not have tenure but shall be entitled to all benefits associated with tenure such as vacation leave sick leave health insurance and other benefits as determined by the county board.
Criminal Background Checks:
All employment offers are conditioned upon the applicant passing a criminal background check. Convictions are not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered on its individual merits and the type of work sought. However making false statements or withholding information will cause you to be barred from employment or removed from employment.
