GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcareis an independent nonprofit organization based at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Ourmission is simple but compelling: to promote compassionate care so that patients and their healthcare providers relate to one another in a way that provides hope to the patient support to caregivers and sustenance to the healing process. The Schwartz Center provides education training and support for professional caregivers through its educational offerings and other member services provided throughout the U.S. The Schwartz Center has more than 375 members in the US and Canada and 100 sites conducting the Schwartz Center Rounds program in the UK. The Schwartz Center is funded primarily by philanthropic gifts from individuals corporations and foundations with a component of funding from membership fees.
Reporting to the Senior Director for Finance for the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare the Staff Accountant performs a wide variety of accounting duties in connection with month end general ledger closing preparation of financial statements management reports journal transactions and supporting documentation.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participates in all aspects of the day to day finance operations to support of the financial analyst and finance director:
Monitors all general ledger account transactions and subsidiary ledgers to ensure overall accuracy and appropriate coding of revenue and expenses for these operational departments
Prepares monthly management reports for each operational area.
Prepares monthly budget variance analysis and researches source of material variances
Compiles corporate financial statements
Prepares general ledger account reconciliations and detailed analysis of specific accounts and clearing reconciling items on a timely basis.
Reconciles data feed from Salesforce CRM to Intacct AR module
Reconciles data feed from PeopleSoft General Ledger to Intacct accounting software.
Manages the billing and accounts receivable function for all membership invoicing
Respond to questions and resolve issues in a friendly professional manner
Process routine transactions responds to inquiries and communicate well with appropriate team members:
Perform new projects as assigned
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Ideal candidate possess:
Knowledge of Intacct and PeopleSoft accounting software applications
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word Excel PowerPoint)
Experience with processing routine transactions
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to provide timely accounting support in a fastpaced growing organization
