Acts as patient liaison to clinicians
Ensures prompt patient access to high quality and appropriate services for patients presenting with communication or swallowing difficulties and disorders
Ensures scheduling is accurate and is conducive to prompt and efficient clinical care
Under the direction of clinicians completes forms and documentation to expedite care and to assist clinical process
Under the direction of clinicians responds to questions from patients families and potential consumers of our service
Communicates with patient and family to confirm appointments and for followup as requested by clinician
Coordinates and maintains patient charts and documents provided by family and/or SLP prior to and following initial diagnostic session
Assists SLPs in the followup/post initial diagnostic communication with referral sources other providers and office manager to ensure timely insurance coverage if treatment at MGH has been recommended
Creates types proofreads and edits letters and correspondence at the direction of SLP
Performs general clerical duties including photocopying faxing and filing for ambulatory patients
Ensures all documentation is disseminated accurately following patient appointments
Creates designs and maintains various databases and spreadsheet applications re: patient populations and research initiatives and disseminates patientrelated reports to SLPs
Assists in the preparation of materials for patientrelated activities
Attends formal and informal presentations related to clinical practice in SLP
Collects and maintains data and makes recommendations accordingly to improve quality of services provided and to help create programs in response to the needs of our patient population
Coordinates the marketing efforts of specific programs and assists in the development of brochures
Ensures accuracy of policy and procedures manual and edits as necessary those policies and guidelines relevant to ambulatory practice
Develops and maintains databases and ensures information is current and reports are generated and available when necessary
Attends formal and informal presentations related to clinical practice in SLP
Participates in department or hospital projects as needed under the direction of Director
Performs general clerical duties including photocopying faxing and filing for ambulatory patients
Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required:
The Staff Assistant III is responsible for providing administrative support to the clinical staff in the Speech Language Pathology department.
This person is theprimary interface between the patient and the providers performing duties that directly impact the care provided to the patient.
The Staff Assistant III also supports the leadership team on as needed basis. Responsibilities include but is not limited to assessing and coordinating programs analyzing data and creating reports assisting with special projects.
This is a parttime 20hour per week position.
