Job Description

The Institution:
MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston is an innovative and interprofessional graduate school with postbaccalaureate direct entrylevel masters and doctorate and postprofessional programs in Nursing Occupational Therapy Physical Therapy Physician Assistant Studies SpeechLanguage Pathology Health Professions Education and a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences. Main Responsibilities:

Under the general direction of the Dean of Enrollment Services this position has primary responsibility for the overall operation of admissions and recruitment insuring its quality and reliability of service to all relevant constituencies. It also includes an advisory responsibility regarding the marketing component of admissions which resides in Communications and Marketing in order to insure an Institutewide strategy to support Admissions. The Director will provide leadership in the management of the Admission web pages and the multiple admissions application systems as well as the Datatel Colleague Admissions module. Through effective utilization of these systems as well as through effective outreach and direct recruitment the director will work towards increasing the inquiries and applications to the Institutes graduate programs offered both onsite and online. A concurrent responsibility will be to increase the yield on admitted students and assist in achieving the Institutes growth enrollment goals.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

1 Works closely with the Enrollment Services staff Communications and Marketing staff academic leaders program managers and faculty admission committees to develop coordinate and implement admissions and recruitment processes. Oversee review of application files to insure they are complete with respect to published requirements and eligibility for waivers from published requirements.

2 In consultation with the Chief Communications and Marketing and Dean of Enrollment Services implement the Institutes marketing and enrollment plans to meet its strategic goals for student quality diversity and enrollment growth; implement strategies for student recruitment utilizing various channels identified in marketing and enrollment plans.

3 Create training material for alumni Institute faculty and staff who will assist in offsite recruitment. Followup with individuals and areas involved in recruitment to monitor its success and to develop/refresh training material and its delivery as needed.

4 Work with the Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM) to develop and update multimedia material (e.g. brochures advertisements) to insure accuracy and consistency of Admissions information. Collaborate with OCM and IT regarding the Institutes web design and navigation in order to create new features that will target segments of potential applicants (e.g. international students Partners employees distance learners etc. for recruitment. Collaborate also on virtual information sessions.

5 Admissions Module and Applications systems leader for Datatels Colleague Liaison and Hobsons. Provide expertise to maximize functionality of the module and multiple systems as they relates to effective and reliable methods for tracking and analyzing Institutes strategies for marketing; recruitment and admissions efforts; maintenance of inquiry and applicant demographic data as well as application/admission yields. In consultation with the Dean of Enrollment Services and Admissions Systems Manager develop customize and modify Institute and programspecific reports related to statistical analysis and trend analysis.

6 Manage inquiries related to admissions process that includes both applicant advising and referral as appropriate. Manage workflow associated with rolling and entrylevel admissions deadlines especially regarding applicant and program communication. Oversee the annual training of designated program faculty and staff in the use of CAS and Hobsons application systems.

7 Oversee the planning of all Information Sessions (onsite off campus and virtual) in consultation with the programs and OCM.

8 In consultation with Dean of Enrollment Services identify and formalize relationships with key professionals in feeder schools companies hospitals etc in order to attain the strategic goals of growth diversity and quality in all programs but especially the PostProfessional ones. Represent the Institute along with faculty staff students alumni at area health care venues college fairs.

9 Leads and sets direction for Admission staff. Provides mentoring coaching and development support to team members as appropriate.

10 Participate in new student orientation open houses commencement and other Institute special events as assigned.

11 Perform other related duties associated with the work described herein.


Supervisory Responsibility:

Provide supervision for Admissions staff. Supervise graduate assistants as needed.


Fiscal / Budget Responsibility:

Manage a recruitment and admissions budget.


Working Conditions:

Work is preformed under stress of deadlines during peak periods of activity. Fastpaced office environment. Some evening and weekend hours. Some travel necessary.


Training Required To Learn Job Responsibilities:

Will require one full year to work through the complete academic cycle.

Education & Experience Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in admissions and recruitment. Managerial experience with integrated database to insure integrity of data and reliability of statistical report generation. Experience in development and promotion of new programs. Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent constituent service. Demonstrated success in managing teams to reach established goals.

Skills / Abilities / Competencies Required:
Administrative Skills:Professional understanding of higher education in the area of admissions and recruitment. Ability to think critically strategically and creatively about the enrollment management process. Strong collaborative skills that promote a collegial work environment. Experience planning and implementing programs and working collaboratively with faculty staff and students. Knowledge of departmental budget administration and familiarity with other offices associated with admissions. Attention to detail and data integrity in managing workflow. Strong organizational interpersonal written and oral communication skills.

Technical Skill:Experience working student information systems as well as strong computer literacy and familiarity and comfort with spreadsheets and databases. Experience with data reporting and analysis for enrollment management decisionmaking required.
