Job Description

The Metropolitan Water Districts Water System Operations Group has one opening for Instrumentation & Control Technician I located at the Jensen Treatment Facility (Granada Hills CA).

This recruitment will be used to build an Eligibility List. This list will be valid for 6 months from the date a candidate accepts the position.

As an Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Technician I you will develop proficiency and assist journeylevel technicians with a wide variety of I&C tasks. These tasks include the installation preventive maintenance troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment such as pressure transducers flowmeters position transmitters level sensors motoroperated valves power supplies workstation displays signal indicators wireless data links localarea network distribution widearea network data terminals life safety equipment gaseous ambient leak detection systems voiceoverIP telephone systems supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems programmable logic controllers public address systems audiovisual presentation systems safety monitoring and alarm annunciation equipment security surveillance systems and energy management devices.

In this role you also assist and perform the installation preventive maintenance troubleshooting and repair of regulatory instrumentation including turbidimeters chlorine analyzers ammonia analyzers particle counters pH analyzers temperature sensors ozone residual/concentration analyzers dissolved oxygen analyzers conductivity probes and other waterconstituent monitoring systems. Tasks are carried out both in a treatment plant environment and in District distribution facilities throughout the MWD service area. This position will perform other related job duties as required.

Schedule: 4/10 (Monday Thursday 6:00am 4:30pm)

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or high school equivalency certificate and completion of 15 semester units in electronics from an accredited college university vocational or military school

Please note: Proof of completion of 15 semester units in electronics from an accredited college university vocational or military school will need to be provided.

CERTIFICATIONS LICENSES AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications licensing and registrations:

License(s):
Valid California Class C Drivers License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
