Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Social Work the Social Work Manager: Inpatient Psychiatry is responsible for the daily operations of clinical social work activities including patient/family care issues social work staffing/assignments training and mentoring.
There is accountability for ensuring efficient and professional social work services for patients and families that are designed to promote and enhance their mental health and psychosocial functioning with attention to the social and emotional impact of illness and disability.
Monitors efficient utilization of healthcare resources and LOS issues. Other duties as assigned.
Provides leadership to social work staff and healthcare team. Plan develop implement and assist in managing a program of clinical social work activities for inpatient psychiatric social work staff and social work interns. Screens applicants for employment.
Provides oversight of case assignments productivity standards and time management for social work. Performs annual performance evaluations.
Works with Psychiatry Leadership to participate in program planning identifying clinical social work needs and resolving problems.
Functions as a member of the Social Work Departments Leadership Team to develop and implement clinical standards policies/procedures quality improvement activities for the department Fosters an environment of teamwork flexibility and collaboration among social workers nursing and medicine.
Must be realistic objective measurable and related to principle duties described above.
Sound clinical judgment and ability to set priorities.
Ability to manage and provide leadership to an interdisciplinary group. Knowledge base of psychiatric care social work utilization management community resources and related regulations. Excellent Interpersonal skills including negotiation skills.
