Job Description
SAITs School of Manufacturing and Automation and School of Transportation provides the skillsbased training and development to prepare students for a career in Albertas rapidly growing transportation manufacturing and automation sectors. We provide applied learning in action through our trades and technology programs.
The Opportunity
The School of Transportation has been a part of SAIT since its inception in 1916 with its original discipline of Motor Mechanics. Now over 100 years later we provide handson practical education for automotive aviation heavy equipment and rail careers. Our stateoftheart facilities include the Clayton Carroll Automotive Centre the Art Smith Aero Centre the Centre for Rail Training and Technology and the RV Excellence Centre. Our passionate team is committed to providing learners with a highquality education and indemand skills.
We are seeking atemporary salaried Auto Body Instructor who is a dynamic teamoriented individual to instruct within the Autobody Programs. The candidate will be a team player demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to learner success. This position will appeal to an individual who seeks the challenges and opportunities to work with learners
Note: SAIT as a postsecondary institution serves a diverse student population. Therefore instructional duties may occasionally be required during early mornings evenings and weekends. If selected specific scheduling arrangements will be discussed between you and the leader.
The Role
- Prepare and present lessons
- Instruct supervise and coach learners in a classroom and shop environment
- Provide ongoing support guidance and feedback to learners by assessing and evaluating learner progress and achievement
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to create an engaging and positive work and learning environment
- Continuously develop professionally by enhancing both technical knowledge and instructional skills
- Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students
Qualifications & Experience
- You must hold an Alberta autobody Technician Certificate of Apprenticeship and Proficiency or equivalent with interprovincial (Red Seal) status.
- You must have at least five years experience as a Journeyperson in the Autobody trade
- Preference will be given to those who have demonstrated experience and are up to date with current technologies and skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office as well as manufactures proprietary software and/or other related software (Adobe suite D2L etc. will be considered assets.
- Dual certification will be considered an asset (e.g. Automotive or Heavy Duty)
- Prior teaching experience will also be considered an asset.
