Job Description

CASUAL TEMPORARY SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER

The Burnaby School District is currently recruiting for Casual Sign Language Interpreters.

This position will facilitate communication between deaf hard of hearing and hearing students and staff by providing interpreting services in school and community settings. This position primarily serves as a staff interpreter providing service in relation to administrative processes.

To be considered candidates must have: successfully completed an interpreter training program; possess fluency in American Sign Language; possesses active membership of WAVLI (Westcoast Association of Visual Language Interpreters); and have two year related interpreting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience working in an educational setting is considered an asset.

Hours of Work: 30 per week
Rate of Pay: $39.77/hour
