Qualifications:Valid SpeechLanguage Pathologist Assistant license from the MA Board of Registration of SpeechLanguage Pathology and Audiology. Associates or Bachelors degree in speechlanguage pathology from a program accredited by ASHA. Experience working with students in a school setting with academic behavioral and/or emotional challenges learning or developmental disabilities or autism preferred. Must be able and willing to physically restrain and/or lift students. Responsibilities:1.Evaluation:Assist the SLP with speech language and hearing screenings without clinical interpretationAssist the SLP during assessment of students patients and clients exclusive of administration and/or interpretation2.Intervention (under the direction of the SLP):Implement intervention plans created by an SpeechLanguage Pathologist and provide direct services for identified students in a one to one or group setting as required by the IEPImplement intervention techniques for students who are unable to use speech as a primary method of communication and thus require augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods such as sign language and speech generating devicesProgram and provide instruction in the use of AAC devicesSupport the development of student communication/social skills through contextual learning experiencesSupport individual students according to IEP goals and objectives3.Consultation (under the direction of the SLP):Demonstrate or share information with patients families and staff regarding strategies developed and directed by the SLP.Collaborate with the school based educational team to ensure safe and functional activities to assist in the development of individual student communication skills throughout the school day as directed by the SLP.4.Professional Responsibilities:Maintain accurate timely and confidential documentation of speechlanguage therapy services including those necessary for Schoolbased Medicaid and report to SLPCaseload assignment is based on SSEC needs and may change at any time including location of service delivery.Schedule and prioritize own workload (according to efficiency. driving time etc. Submit and maintain up to date scheduleEmploy professional and ethical practice; Follow ASHA Code of EthicsMay require the use of a personal automobile for travel between school sites home and clinic visitsUse deescalation protective measures and physical management techniques (including lifting and moving) as prescribed in SSEC approved physical management training programs when appropriate with students.Consistent work attendance which includes; arriving to work on time each day working the entire day and notifying the program director/coordinator a minimum of 48 hours in advance for a personal day whenever possible. Follows all policies and procedures as established by the South Shore Educational Collaborative and any district settings.Participate in all required inservice trainingMaintain confidentiality regarding information for all SSEC and district staff students and their families.Perform other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the program director/coordinator executive director and/or district supervisor.
