The Head of Department (HOD) Obstetrics & Gynecology will be responsible for coordinating and managing the hospitals Obstetrics and Gynecology department while ensuring high standards of care are met.
Functionally Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
Administratively Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
Supervises: Consultant Obstetricians & Gynecologists
Working Relationships:
Internal: Obstetricians & Gynecologists other consultants medical officers directors and nursing staff
External: Clients patients parents and patient relatives
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and develop the Obstetrics & Gynecology department.
Supervise and support the team of Obstetricians & Gynecologists ensuring patient care is optimal and aligned with clinical guidelines.
Manage duty schedules for Obstetricians & Gynecologists.
Foster collaboration between departments.
Participate in recruitment orientation and training of new staff.
Lead department meetings and ensure achievement of departmental targets.
Provide direct care for obstetrics and gynecology cases and oversee highrisk deliveries.
Conduct ward rounds and specialist outpatient clinics.
Case reporting and documentation
Requirements
Education: MBBS or its equivalent
Professional Training: Residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology from a recognized institution
Licensing: Valid medical practice license
Professional Qualification: Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College in Obstetrics & Gynecology or its equivalent
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years postresidency experience is required.
