Job Description
The Department of Languages Literatures and Linguistics at Syracuse University is seeing a parttime instructor(s) to teach 3credit sections of ENL for nonnative speakers in the spring 2022 semester which begins August 19 2024 (appointment begins on August 26 2024. Offer is contingent upon sufficient enrollment. This position requires both inperson and synchronous online teaching. COURSE DESCRIPTIONS : ENL 202 Students review grammar and practice speaking listening reading and writing. ENL 203 Speaking/listening focused on academic and social situations. Intensive work on notetaking and the sounds stress rhythm and intonation of English practiced in group work and presentations. ENL 207 An integratedskills course for advanced nonnative speakers of English. ENL 211 Expository writing and reading. Students develop an awareness of the cultural and discourse expectations in written English through reading and responding to articles on a variety of topics and writing essays of increasing complexity. ENL 213 Development of critical reading and thinking skills used in scholarly research in a variety of disciplines. Students learn to summarize synthesize critique and document and use library resources effectively.

Responsibilities
It is understood that teaching assignments may include: Developing and/or updating a class syllabus. Preparation of lectures projects or other student assignments. Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours. Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. Meeting all designated class periods. Submitting completed midsemester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations. Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner. Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations. Building a positive rapport with students and faculty. Attending program meetings. Other responsibilities as indicated by the ESOL Assistant Professors.

Qualifications
Masters Degree in TESOL or Applied Linguistics with a TESOL Concentration required. Experience in universitylevel TESOL instruction preferred.
