Overview
ABOUT THE ROLE
Seneca is looking for a Bilingual SchoolBased Therapist to support a caseload of students and families with therapy case management and consultation services for grades 68 at United for Successin Oakland Unified School District. As a Bilingual SchoolBased Therapist youll provide outstanding therapeutic and casemanagement services including conducting mental health assessments and implementing individual behavioral plans. Youll also have the opportunity to collaborate with teachers counselors and school leadership to ensure the success of youth and families in a district school setting.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Senecas Unconditional Education Rooted to Rise Program partners with Oakland Unified School District to provide therapeutic and behavioral intervention services for children and families in critical need of support resources and care. This MediCal funded program provides individual family and group therapy as well as pushin behavioral intervention and social skills development during the school day to students that qualify through their insurance. Our team is integrated into the school community in order to collaborate with school partners and seamlessly provide the necessary interventions and services needed for students to thrive. Responsibilities
- Work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team with teachers counselors other specialists/educational staff and program leadership
- Provide interventions including therapy (individual group family) and case management for identified students based on schoolbased referrals individualized clinical assessment diagnosis and treatment planning
- Engage caregivers in the treatment process providing frequent opportunities to discuss student growth and needs
- Provide crisis intervention including risk screening assessment triage and service linkage
- Utilize crisis communication and deescalation techniques as per Senecas crisis response training
- This may include intervening with the clients behavioral program through physical management of the clients if applicable. Training in additional crisis intervention modalities may be required
- Provide consultation to other school staff on safety assessments mental health crises accessing social service and in utilizing healing centered techniques to experience success with all students
- Contribute to a strong school culture by participating in or leading small group classroom or schoolwide activities for students that celebrate success and promote joy
- Complete required data collection and service documentation for plan development and to measure the effectiveness of services inform team decision making and/or engage in service billing
Qualifications
- Masters degree in social work marriage and family therapy professional clinical counseling or psychology
- Eligible to register with the California BBS
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Reliable transportation to and from the school site and other occasional meeting spots
- TB test clearance fingerprinting clearance any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements and proof of COVID19 vaccination
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team member and contribute to the growth and development of an engaged program culture
- Experience working with youth in a mental health or education setting is strongly preferred
Schedule
- School based schedule:
- Monday to Friday: 8 AM 4:30 PM
- 5 weeks of flexible paid time off 11 paid holidays and 14 paid school break days
