Ophthalmic Assistant Cornea and Refractive Surgery Casual

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Casual Ophthalmic Assistant for Cornea and Refractive Surgery. We are looking for an experienced Ophthalmic Assistant to join our surgical team in a flexible casual role supporting our cornea and refractive surgery services. In this position youll leverage your expertise to assist with patient preparation diagnostic testing and surgical procedures in a fastpaced clinical environment. With flexible hours this role offers the opportunity to pick up shifts as needed ideal for those seeking a worklife balance while contributing to highquality patient care.

Priority consideration given to applicants with ophthalmology experience.

Duties: Ophthalmic Assistant Cornea and Refractive Surgery

Provide administrative technical and quality patient care support to an ophthalmologist/optometrist in a clinical setting. Delivers on daily objectives to assist with meeting patients needs. Communicates information to patients and others within the care team.

Required Qualifications: Ophthalmic Assistant Cornea and Refractive Surgery
High school education or equivalent required.
Completion of an accredited Ophthalmic Assistant course OR completion of one year of postsecondary education in an allied health field OR one year of experience in a healthcare setting required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (BLS with skills assessment or approved BLS) within six months of hire required must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1 2023 or later).


Preferred Qualifications: Ophthalmic Assistant Cornea and Refractive Surgery
Prior experience in ophthalmic or optometric office preferred.
Completion of an accredited ophthalmic assistant course preferred.
Certification as an ophthalmic assistant technician or technologist preferred.
Once certification is achieved it is required to be maintained.
