Job Description

Position Title: Housekeeping Manager

Department: Housekeeping

Reports to: General Manager

Job Purpose:

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing all housekeeping operations to ensure cleanliness orderliness and overall guest satisfaction in all areas of the property including guest rooms public spaces and backofhouse areas. This role manages and leads the housekeeping team ensures adherence to quality and safety standards controls expenses and maintains high levels of productivity and morale.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Approach all encounters with guests & employees in an attentive friendly courteous and serviceoriented manner.
  • Train and supervise the hourly housekeeping team and coordinate all scheduling to ensure adequate service. Establish proper staffing levels to ensure effective scheduling in alignment with the forecast and labor budget.
  • Review & approve housekeeping teams worked hours for payroll compilation and submit to Human Resources in a timely manner.
  • Plan and schedule proper staffing accordingly based on business needs.
  • Motivate coach counsel and discipline all housekeeping personnel according to the standards at Canoe Place Inn.
  • Conduct all annual employee performance appraisals.
  • Prepare & conduct all housekeeping interviews and follow hiring procedures.
  • Attend morning meetings & weekly staff meetings and any other functions required by management.
  • Prepare annual housekeeping budget.
  • Adhere to budgeted orreforecasted expense allotments use proper procedures for all purchases and keep all necessary items stocked. Review and approve monetary disbursements allowances and department expenditures.
  • Prepare reports for management information
  • Ensure proper inventories and controls are in place with established par levels. Adhere to proper purchasing guidelines and ensure usage is in line with purchases.
  • Handle requests from guests in a timely manner.
  • Attending and resolving guest complaints in a timely manner.
  • Coordinating the preventive maintenance schedule of rooms and a public area with the maintenance department.
  • Ensure that employees are attentive friendly courteous and helpful to guests all other employees and managers.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with managers employees and other departments.
  • Perform any other duties as required by your reporting manager.
  • Maintain organized housekeeping closets.
  • Develop and implement housekeeping systems standards and procedures. Ensure opening and closing procedures are in place and adhered to.
  • Maintain proper established standards via inspections andwalkthroughs.
  • Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of establishment.
  • Plans for professional development and training activities for team.
  • Communicates to management recommendations for painting repairs furnishings relocation of equipment and reallocation of space. Coordinating the preventive maintenance schedule of rooms and public areas with the Maintenance Department.
  • Personally check all VIPs guest rooms after they have been cleaned daily.
  • Maintains the lost & found and records associated with it daily.
  • Investigate new & improved cleaning instruments and methods.

Qualifications:

Education

Any combination of education training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. Minimum high school education.

Experience

3 years of housekeeping experience

Specific Job Knowledge Skills and Ability:

The individual must possess the following knowledge skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that you can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation using some other combination of skills and abilities.

Ability to uphold and enforce hotels standards policies and procedures with self and housekeeping staff.

Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments delegate work to staff.

Ability to direct the performance of staff and follow up with corrections where needed.

Ability to motivate staff and maintain a cohesive team.

Ability to provide clear direction instruction and guidance to subordinates.

Must be computer literate.

Must be able to work well under pressure.

Must be able to work weekends holidays and day and evening shifts.

Demonstrated attention to detail.

Ability to read write and communicate effectively in English and Spanish.

May be exposed to chemical hazards.

Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Ability to lift reach bend stoop stand and walk continuously climb stairs and push or pull heavy equipment.

Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality of all guests and hotel information at all times.
