Founded in 1907 Polytechnic School is the first nonprofit coeducational K12 independent school in Southern California. Position: Varsity Cross Country Program Head

Responsibilities

Polytechnic School seeks a passionate and dedicated CrossCountry Coach to lead and develop our crosscountry program. The coach will train studentathletes develop race strategies promote teamwork and foster a positive and competitive environment. The ideal candidate should have experience in coaching or competing in longdistance running possess strong leadership skills and be committed to athletes physical and personal development.

Terms of employment: Contract

Season: Fall (August November)

Practices: Monday through Friday 3:45 to 5:30 p.m.

Contests: Times vary

Compensation: $23 $25/hr

Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • Design and implement structured training programs to enhance endurance speed and race strategy.
  • Instruct athletes on proper running techniques injury prevention and race preparation.
  • Organize and oversee team practices workouts and conditioning sessions.
  • Engage robustly in fostering diversity equity and inclusion to promote a healthy learning environment
  • Develop a positive team culture emphasizing hard work sportsmanship and personal growth.
  • Coordinate team participation in meets including scheduling travel and logistics.
  • Assess individual athlete performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to all school/organization rules conference regulations and governing body guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with athletes parents school administration and other stakeholders.
  • Promote academic success and personal development among studentathletes.
  • Manage team budget equipment and fundraising efforts as needed.

Physical requirements and work environment

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Strong leadership motivational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of training techniques race strategies and injury prevention.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Previous high school coaching or equivalent;
  • Ability to supervise studentathletes;
  • Drivers license insurance and ability to drive school van;
  • CPR certification (provided by Polytechnic School Athletic Department);
  • Completion of CIF Coaches Principle Course NFHS Concussion Course NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest Course NFHS Heat Illness Prevention (provided by Polytechnic School Athletic Department);
  • Instill the values of good character and fair play along with acting as a positive role model.
