Job Description

Talon Recruiting has partnered with a leading agricultural equipment dealer in search of a Heavy Duty Field Mechanic to join their team in Carleton Place ON.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Heavy Duty Field Mechanic to join our team in the agriculture industry. This individual will be responsible for diagnosing repairing and maintaining agricultural machinery and components to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background excellent problemsolving abilities and a commitment to exceptional customer service. This role requires working independently in various environments to ensure all equipment operates efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments.
Diagnose and repair all equipment sold by the dealership.
Recondition and repair machine systems and components.
Identify and implement solutions for customer service opportunities within the dealerships service area.
Maintain uptodate technical and product knowledge of dealership equipment.
Prepare all necessary reports and forms related to work assignments.
Conduct oneself professionally in the presence of customers to maintain a positive dealership image.
Perform additional duties as requested by the Service Manager.
Assist other departments to enhance overall customer satisfaction.
Participate in all relevant training programs.
Attend dealership meetings and functions.
Adhere to company policies and procedures outlined in manuals and the employee handbook.
Install and configure equipment based on specifications and customer requirements.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on various systems and machinery.
Respond promptly to service calls and provide onsite support.
Document all service activities including repairs performed and parts used.
Train customers on proper equipment use and maintenance.
Maintain an organized inventory of tools and parts for service calls.
Collaborate with team members to improve service processes and customer satisfaction.

Job Requirements:
Journeyperson Certificate Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) or Agricultural Equipment Technician (AET).
Strong mechanical skills with handson repair experience.
Own set of tools.
Strong computer skills for diagnostics and reporting.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to assemble and perform maintenance on equipment.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Graduation from a diesel or agricultural technology program (preferred).
Valid drivers license with a clean drivers abstract.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge of agricultural equipment and related parts.
Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities for inventory management.
Basic knowledge of computer systems and inventory management software.
Previous service experience in the agriculture industry (preferred).
Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in troubleshooting and repairing machinery or electronic systems.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing time efficiently.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for troubleshooting.
Familiarity with safety protocols and best practices in field service operations.
A valid drivers license is required for travel to various job sites.

Working Environment:
Work in a dealership repair shop or warehouse setting.
May require physical tasks such as lifting parts stocking shelves and handling heavy equipment.
Regular interaction with customers service technicians and suppliers.
Travel to customer locations may be required particularly during peak farming seasons.
Occasional overtime or weekend work may be necessary.
