JOB OVERVIEW:

The Procurement Senior Manager for CoManufacturing is a key member of the Procurement team reporting directly to the Director of Global Procurement. This role oversees all of Blue Diamonds comanufacturing operations (both domestic and international and including current and potential/new comanufacturing partners. At a highlevel the role includes the daytoday management of comans; the commercialization process of new products at current/new comans; the overall comanufacturer sourcing/selection process including contract negotiation; and the development and of the coman category strategy (domestic and international) for Blue Diamond. As the Procurement organization at Blue Diamond Growers is on a journey to create a bestinclass sourcing organization this role is critical in delivering on that mission. This is a very strategic and crossfunctional role that supports a large portion of our companys products manufacturing and innovation process. Additionally the Senior Manager has one direct report (Procurement Manager CoManufacturing) who will assist in managing a portion of the comanufacturing partners.

Management of the comanufacturing category will include everything from but not limited to leading the development and of a category strategy leading supplier relationship management (including quarterly business reviews scorecards etc) creating shouldcost models negotiating contracts executing RFPs developing a risk mitigation plan collaborating on innovation of new products with marketing and R&D managing quality cost and service performance leading continuous improvement projects materials management deploying and utilizing new procurement technology implementing and tracking costsavings initiatives and calculating the total cost of ownership (TCO).

The person in this role should have good knowledge and experience of strategic sourcing; negotiating contracts; the management of comanufacturer partners; manufacturing and quality processes; crossfunctional collaboration; and leading/mentoring others.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Strategic Sourcing Category Management and Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Lead the entire endtoend sourcing process for comanufacturing of new innovation/products including developing coman/supplier landscapes sourcing new comans completing financial/quality/other due diligence on potential comans executing RFIs/RFQs/RFPs qualifying and onboarding new comans negotiating contracts with comans evaluating coman performance using specific KPIs and managing the overall coman partnership from daytoday.
  • Partner with the Legal team to draft negotiate and implement contracts with coman partners
  • Develop specific KPIs for ongoing coman performance tracking including for quality delivery cost compliance etc; develop and utilize tool/scorecard and process for tracking those KPIs with our comans
  • Develop Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) best practices and tools including supplier business review templates supplier scorecards/KPIs supplier segmentation contract adherence risk mitigation strategies supplier forecasts strategic collaboration with suppliers etc
  • Conduct quarterly or biannual business reviews with coman partners to review business updates performance against agreedupon KPIs key projects continuous improvement opportunities etc
  • Contract compliance ensure coman suppliers adhere to the terms and conditions outlined in the contract
  • Lead the development and of category strategies for domestic and international comanufacturing (including supplier landscape shortand longterm strategy savings opportunities spend analysis competitive analysis capacity planning etc) based on an understanding of the overall business strategy goals/objectives and product/innovation roadmap
  • Analyze and recommend the best type of arrangement and contract for each partnership such as toll vs turnkey manufacturing; and costplus fixedprice fullservice etc contracts
  • Develop risk mitigation strategy including alternative sourcing options or secondary suppliers
  • Develop shouldcost models as needed for the manufacturing of new products with a deep understanding of the cost drivers
  • Foster strong mutuallybeneficial relationships with comans to ensure high quality service and value
  • Conduct comprehensive market research to stay informed about industry trends market conditions and coman/supplier landscapes
  • Leverage market intelligence to identify opportunities for cost reduction and competitive advantage

DaytoDay Management of CoMan Partners:

  • Manage daytoday activities and overall relationship with comanufacturing partners to ensure highservice levels and ontime production and ontime of new product launches; hold weekly calls with coman partners
  • Escalate critical issues to leadership for resolution
  • Partner with the Procurement Planning Inventory Control and Transportation/Warehousing teams to optimize production schedules and manage raw material/packaging and finishedgood inventory levels at comans
  • Collaborate with internal teams to source and supply raw materials delivered finished goods and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Support QA with investigations into FSQA issues and corrective actions
  • Collaborate with QA R&D and Regulatory Affairs to maintain compliance and adherence to product specifications
  • Support QA and legal teams in recalls associated with comanufacturing partners
  • Support Transportation team as needed in managing warehousing and shipping related services offered by comanufacturing partners
  • Act as an escalation point for delivery pickup and transportation issues at comanufacturing partners.
  • Ensure the comanufacturing partners follow the Blue Diamond shipping and routing guidelines
  • Track progress of active projects with current/potential coman partners including quality issue resolution RFPs new item commercialization comanufacturer onboarding and qualification costsavings initiatives and continuous improvement projects
  • Develop and implement costmanagement strategies to ensure Bill of Material (BOM) costing aligns with inflation
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to track and analyze costs and costsavings initiatives related to our coman operations
  • Identify assess and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure business continuity

Innovation & Commercialization of New Products:

  • Partner with R&D Marketing and QA on innovation projects including attending marketings weekly commercialization meetings finding and researching potential coman partners performing due diligence on potential comans performing make vs buy analyses with finance managing project timelines and coordinating trials for qualification in order to meet the companys deadlines for new product launches
  • Collaborate with Finance and Marketing to analyze the P&L for new products
  • As needed work with the Direct Materials Procurement team on ingredient/packaging pricing for new raw materials used at our coman partners

Continuous Improvement and CostSavings:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives at comanufacturing partners
  • Identify and execute costsaving opportunities for comanufactured products
  • Evaluate the comans ability to bring new ideas technologies and processes that add value reduce cost etc
  • Implement best practices to enhance quality cost efficiency and service performance
  • Monitor industry trends and incorporate innovation solutions into comanufacturing processes
  • Joint problemsolving engage in collaborative efforts internally and with comans to address issues and/or to improve processes
  • Evaluate continuous improvement opportunities and conduct ongoing capability analysis as it relates to comanufacturing operations

Sustainability:

  • As needed work with the Sustainability and Government Affairs to collect information from our coman partners for our sustainability metrics and reporting. Coordinate projects and contacts between our comans and these internal teams to accomplish Blue Diamonds overall sustainability goals.

Strategic Communication and Leadership:

  • Clearly communicate coman activities and strategies to senior management
  • Lead the strategic sourcing process for comans including negotiations of contracts/supply agreements
  • Act as a leader within Procurement (as part of the Procurement Leadership team) within the Supply Chain group and across the broader organization
  • Lead manage and mentor the Procurement Manager CoManufacturing on your team. This includes working with them to establish their annual goals (business and professional development); providing feedback; reviewing and tracking progress on annual goals; and supporting and guiding them in both their daytoday and strategic activities for the category. Further it includes teaching and guiding them on the coman selection process performing due diligence on new suppliers contract development/negotiation development of KPIs and SRM tools costsavings and true strategic sourcing best practices.
  • Effectively document communicate and gain consensus across the organization to ensure alignment
  • Influence & Alignment ability to influence and build alignment both internally and externally
  • Strong internal partner management skills capacity to listen build trusting relationships in all levels of the organization understand and capture needs to deliver effective solutions and influence others

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Supply Chain business economics or related fields. Masters degree or an MBA preferred.
  • 8 years (minimum) of procurement experience especially strategic sourcing and as a manager
  • Experience in sourcing/managing comanufacturer partners
  • Required indepth knowledge of the sourcing process with strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent project management cross functional leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills to be able to analyze bids and data from a variety of data sources to help drive decisionmaking; drive costsavings; and develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Extensive experience in driving and performing complex negotiations and a variety of deals/contracts
  • Ability to drive aggressive implementation plans and schedules
  • Must be able to problemsolve and handle multiple projects and stakeholder needs
  • Ability to handle challenging situations and discussions with suppliers/coman partners while upholding Blue Diamonds position and also maintaining a positive relationship with the coman
  • Ability to work efficiently
  • 1530 travel required to visit new potential coman partners attend production trials lead business reviews (may include international travel but mostly domestic)
