Electrical Project Engineer Entry Level

Job Description

We are looking for an entry level Electrical Project Engineer that will support the North American Warehouse Solutions Team.

Vanderlandes Engineering Department is responsible for the design specification and commissioning of Material Handling Systems Warehouse Automation and Parcel Sortationsystems for our customers throughout North America. In this position you will be working with an engineering project team in the development of an automated warehouse or parcel sortation system. You will be responsible for ensuring the design meets the customer requirements is coordinated with other trades to ensure proper operation can be installed and operated with efficiency and maintain excellent communication with the site team.

Success in this role involves the ability to balance the technical requirements of the role while also having the soft skills to collaborate with the engineering team. It also involves working closely with stakeholders from other disciplines and other departments to balance priorities improve processes and satisfy a complex set of goals. Success will require strong technical skills creativity strong interpersonal skills drive and passion. A successful candidate will demonstrate a keen intuition for when to attempt to solve problems on their own and when to enlist the help of other experienced leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Develop code compliant electrical systems that meet the customer specifications
  • Optimize the system functionality from assold to a working electrical design within the budget in consultation with other disciplines (Mechanical Controls Supply Chain Installation etc.
  • Perform system and component level calculations to size components and equipment for the application (conductor sizing voltage drop motor starters overcurrent and short circuit protection control panels control networks etc.
  • Engineering of project specials needed for nonstandard design applications
  • Apply safety regulations
  • Specify the electrical equipment required for the complete electrical system that operates and controls both the Vanderlande manufactured and third party purchased items
  • Use software tools (AutoCAD Electrical Word Excel etc. to develop the electrical designs such as wiring diagrams termination lists Bill of Materials etc.
  • Document all engineering decisions through design planscomplete and clear installation files and engineering instructions directed to a site supervisor and installation subcontractor
  • Travel to site as needed to conduct site surveys
  • Support the installation and commissioning both on site and from the Marietta GA office
  • Project document control using a rightsbased database system

Requirements:

  • This is an entry level position.
    • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technologywith 0 2 years ofrelated work experience
    • Or Associate EE/ET with 3 5 years related experience
  • Must be willing and able to travel domestically up to 30 with occasional international opportunities
  • Ability to think conceptually (overall system) and translate this into a detailed system design
  • Ability to work in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperating with others and being a team member is natural
  • Good communicator able to effectively understand and set expectations for deliverables
  • Able to handle time sensitive situations and quickly set the right priorities while maintaining a firm grasp of the details

Desired Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge or familiarity of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Occupational Safety and Health Standards
  • Basic knowledge or familiarity of NFPA 70 National Electrical Code (NEC)
