Installation Maint Repair

Description

General Summary: Works in the die maintenance department as a trainee.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assesses damage to dies and determines repairs needed.
  2. Sets up and operates required equipment selects appropriate equipment to ensure no further damage to the die. Meets deadlines to perform quick repairs as well as welding on die breaks as needed.
  3. Grinds completed welding jobs to finish the repaired die to correct dimensions.
  4. Performs welding during die assembly to ensure die is assembled properly the first time through the machine.
  5. Review dies during disassembly and repairs any damage that may have occurred during the production process.
  6. Maintains a log of daily activities and records materials used.
  7. Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
  8. Will be involved with basic programming and operation of CNC lathe or mill.
  9. Maintain a positive can do attitude.

Marginal Functions:

1 Learns from other die maintenance finishers how to troubleshoot die problems.

2 Attends daily departmental meeting.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Good mechanical skills. Can disassemble and reassemble mechanical equipment.
  3. Have some welding skills including exposure to mig arc and tig welding.
  4. Possess ability to use various hand tools such as mills lathes and grinders.
  5. Possess knowledge of basic blue print reading and basic machining practices.
  6. Use calipers and micrometers for dimensional inspections.
  7. Use of oxygen acetylene torch.

Working Conditions:

  • Plant conditions including exposure to dirt fumes heat noise and cleaning chemicals
  • Frequent walking and standing
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 60 lbs.
  • Regular kneeling squatting or working in otherwise uncomfortable work positions
  • Occasional climbing onto dies to perform maintenance activities
  • Standing and bending for extended periods of time
