JOB SUMMARY
The Ready Start Teacher works in a CoTeach model providing instruction to 35yearold children including children receiving special education services. This position is responsible for teaching with fidelity the district adopted curriculum.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the Program Administrator and building principal.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in a classroom setting; lifting up to 25 pounds and some custodial care required; required to work with special education students with varying handicapping conditions from mild to severe; may be required to deal with any or distraught students and/or parents; may experience frequent interruptions; required to assist students outside in inclement weather; required to attend occasional evening meetings; required to perform home visitations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
A minimum of an Associate of Arts degree preferably in Early Childhood Education or a related field and successful work experience in an early childhood setting is required. Preferred experience includes: experience working with students with special needs (implementing accommodations/modifications under the direction of the special education teacher; experience working with multidisciplinary teams; experience in overseeing/working with an assistant; experience in working with families; experience in utilizing a Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) curriculum and assessment.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate instructional techniques; understanding of the rationale behind inclusive programming; ability to interact and relate positively with all children to support their individual learning and emotional needs; ability to establish effective and productive work relationships with students staff and parents; skill in various curricular areas such as socialemotional development early literacy music art preschool science storytelling and language development; ability to effectively plan and schedule activities; ability to make accurate written observations and keep accurate and detailed records; skill in classroom management; ability to provide for the physical safety of children ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Salary:Salary is based upon the currentESP Salary Schedule(Level II); placement on the salary schedule will be determined by Human Resources DOE. FLSA NonExempt.
