Job Summary
The Childrens Ministry Special Needs Assistant Coordinator at Cornerstone Chapel is a calm caring individual with a heart to serve the special needs community and childrens ministry to show them the love of Christ. This individual is able to adapt effectively in difficult situations and work closely with other team members to ensure all individuals are cared for. Lastly this individual demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit in all interactions with congregants volunteers and staff. He or she will seek to perform all duties as unto the Lord relying on the Holy Spirit for guidance and completing all tasks with excellence.
Performance Dimensions and Tasks
- Ministry Support
- Communicates with Director or Special Needs (SpN) Coordinator concerning any needs issues or concerns
- Coordinates special events with Director and SpN Coordinator
- Trains and evaluates ministry volunteers
- Assists in generating appropriate curriculum scope and sequence
- Prepares curriculum and classrooms prior to each service
- Maintains all special needs classrooms by keeping them clean stocked and organized
- Monitors classrooms during service times and assists as needed
- Assists with special needs classroom shutdown and clean up after each service
- Administrative Support
- Effectively communicates with ministry families and volunteers to provide support and direction as needed
- Evaluates and integrates new special needs participants with detailed intake documents personal interviews with family and review of special education accommodations
- Uses FellowshipOne database software to communicate with volunteers and families approve volunteer applications and manage special events
- Schedules ministry volunteers for all services using Planning Center Online
Job Specifications
- Age: Minimum age of 18 required minimum age of 21 preferred
- Education: Bachelors degree in special education/education preferred high school diploma or GED required
- Experience: Experience in a special education classroom environment required 35 years experience in a special education classroom preferred
- Knowledge: Disability awareness volunteer management skills ministry development
- Skills/Abilities: Public relations interpersonal communication and problemsolving skills
- Other Characteristics: Patient teachable spirit; maintains composure under stress
Job Context: Classroom environment on Sundays and Wednesdays including Christmas Easter and other special events; seated desk work remainder of week
Job Status: Parttime nonexempt
