AbilityPath is hiring Recreation Therapy Interns for Summer 2025!

Summer commitment dates are from MayAugust

The Recreation Therapy Intern provides engaging communitybased instruction in support of highquality participant services. This is a great opportunity for RT students to gain direct experience complete your hours and work with adults with disabilities!

Compensation: $18.50/hr

*this is a partially paid internship opportunity Rec Therapy Internship is a total of 17 weeks I 40 hours a week

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Complete all appropriate training
  • Observe and participate in all aspects of therapeutic recreation programming including but not limited to: assessment planning implementation evaluation documentation
  • Complete two case studies over an 8 week period
  • Present weekly EBP reports/ summaries to the Recreation Therapy Team
  • Attend 1:1 meetings with supervisor
  • Attend weekly team meetings
  • Plan and implement one major project
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

Below is a list of Education and Work Experience that would be helpful to have in this role however we encourage you to apply even if you may not meet all of the listed qualifications as any combination of lived and learned education and experience can make you a successful candidate.

  • Pursing Associates or Bachelors in relevant field
  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities (preferred)

HIRING REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3 years of a Valid California Drivers License/ID
  • 3 years of a Clean Driving Record (if applicable)
  • Proof of negative TB test results
  • Verification of physical clearance
  • Passing a criminal fingerprint clearance
  • 21 years of age for driving positions

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:

Employees have the opportunity to share access needs during the interview process upon hire and ongoing throughout their employment.   • Ability to physically respond to adults with developmental disabilities
  • Ability to lift/support at least 40 lbs as needed
  • Ability to sit stand stoop and bend frequently
  • Ability to walk for extended periods of time and support adults with developmental disabilities on community outings
  • Ability to drive company vehicles to transport participants
  • Ability to sit and use a keyboard as needed
