Job Summary
Faculty are professional educators who have the primary responsibility of fulfilling the Texas Southmost Colleges TSC mission vision values and goals of providing a quality education for all students enrolled at the College. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of leader teacher advisor and facilitator of learning. Faculty members are responsible to the College President through a chain of command and accountable to the Colleges policies and procedures. Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Athletics and Civility the Instructor of Business Administration Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of operating the Womens NJCAA Soccer intercollegiate program. The Instructor of Business Administration Head Coach is expected to encourage and promote high academic and athletic standards.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Strive for continual improvement of student success by planning an optimal learning environment; providing high quality instruction and advising; participating in the development of learning outcomes and in the assessment of students as well as of self and applied teaching techniques in order to increase effectiveness; and engaging in ongoing professional development. Manage learning environments by ensuring that accurate syllabi are developed that incorporate college departmental and instructor requirements; maintaining attendance records submitting grades and providing constructive feedback as well as other relevant information to students throughout the semester; and conducting classes punctually and in accordance with the prescribed meeting schedule. Deliver effective instruction by assuming primary responsibility for curriculum development in conjunction with the Colleges policies and procedures ensuring both rigor and the quality of instruction; by considering individual differences of students in order to design and support a range of appropriate learning activities; by using the Colleges digital learning solution to meet the objectives of courses; and by communicating clearly to students the expectations concerning the use of the Colleges digital learning solution and other available technologies. Collaborate with colleagues across the College in the construction and continuous improvement of measurable learning outcomes to include the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board THECB core curriculum objectives and additional Texas Southmost Colleges objectives. Accept and teach classes based on varied schedules (morning afternoon evening and weekends) to accommodate diverse student needs and external stakeholders expectations of the College and accept assignments as necessary at other sites such as for dual credit courses as specified by designated supervisor. Demonstrate sensitivity toward and respect for the myriad of diversities represented in the student population colleagues and service area. Develops and maintains an effective program to identify and recruit students to the program and Texas Southmost College. Assists in advising and registration as assigned and establishes and maintains appropriate office hours; Works individually and collaboratively with others to recruit new students and work to retain current students. Responsible for team management duties including recruitment advertising training teaching and any other support activities that are necessary for student athletes while attending Texas Southmost College. Oversees a Womens Soccer team that will be competitive as possible within the guidelines set by institutional policies and the rules and legal boundaries prescribed by the National Junior College Athletic Association. Works to ensure the ongoing eligibility of athletes and monitors their academic progress. Conducts physical conditioning instruction for student athletes who are members of the intercollegiate sport activity; provides effective supervision of student athletes in the areas of practice competition and life management. Instructs the team during competitions; trains encourages and motivates athletes to prepare them for games and competitive events. Supervises all team practices competition activities and student athletes including student athletes during away games. Contributes to a safe educational and working environment by participating in all drills and training and being prepared to take action should a health or safety emergency occur. Supervises maintenance of playing area or field; Manages and cares for athletic equipment; Inventories uniforms supplies and equipment to ensure effective maintenance of physical resources; orders equipment and supplies as authorized by the Executive Director of Athletics and Civility. Cooperates with others for the efficient utilization of shared facilities. Manages scholarship awards in his or her sport(s) and coordinates other financial aid with the financial aid officer. Uses the funds of the institution allocated to the budget of the department or a special project in effective and efficient manner. Reports communicates and receives preapproval for any or all fundraising activities from the Executive Director of Athletics and Civility and the President. Fundraising activities are to be handled in proper accordance with Texas Southmost College and NJCAA policies. Supports College activities and special events through attendance participation and/or other activities. Sets a high standard in academic and scholarly excellence personal integrity professional competence and professional ethics. Works to enrich the emotional wellbeing of the studentathlete through proper role modeling and the demonstration of high ethical standards and behavior. Avoids professional and personal actions which may cause economic loss and/or public or legal embarrassment to the institution. Attend the workplace regularly report to work punctually and follow a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite (which may be on campus or at an offsite location); working hours may include evenings or weekends. Supervises all coaching staff and other parttime employees. Represents the College at division regional state and/or national meetings relating specifically to Soccer. Provides reports and documentation when required by the Executive Director of Athletics and Civility; Implements a record keeping system in cooperation with the Marketing Office to monitor individual and team accomplishments. Works on institutional standing and ad hoc committees as assigned. Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding students supervisors or other employees. Complete all required training and professional development sessions sponsored by the College. Support the values and institutional goals as defined in the Colleges Strategic Plan. Complete duties and responsibilities in compliance with college standards policies and guidelines. Other duties as assigned.
