Description

Defense Litigation Paralegal New Orleans LA We are a midsized Firm looking for a highly motivated and experienced Defense Litigation Paralegal with a strong background in toxic tort and/or insurance defense litigation. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 to 7 years of experience in the legal field possess excellent organizational skills and thrive in a fastpaced dynamic environment.Our paralegals are integral members of our legal team and contribute significantly to the success of defense litigation efforts.

Some key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain databases and indexes of caserelated materials.
  • Assist in the management of case files including organizing documents maintaining calendars and tracking deadlines.
  • Prepare and proofread correspondence reports and legal documents.
  • Attend and provide support during trial proceedings such as document management and coordination as necessary.
  • Experience reviewing/requesting medical records responding to/drafting discovery deposition scheduling/summaries and bates labeling.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to handle a fastpaced environment and ability to multitask.
  • Utilize legal software and databases for research and case management.
  • Ability to work well both independently & as part of a team.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office (including Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) iManage and Westlaw.
  • Ability to create detailed billing narratives and accurately enter billable time for tasks and activities related to client matters.
  • Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures and processes.
  • Ability to electronically file (ECF) in state and federal courts and communicate with court personnel.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in paralegal studies or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • 4 years of experience as a litigation paralegal with a focus on defense litigation is highly desirable.
  • Paralegal certification is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits:
