Sierra College is actively recruiting for a Head Softball Coach. In order to create a pool of qualified applicants Sierra College is accepting applications and will review applications at the beginning of each week and conduct interviews until the position is filled. Examples Of Functions and Tasks

Under the supervision of the Dean of Kinesiology/Athletic Director the PartTime Head Softball Coach will develop curriculum provide lecture/laboratory skills evaluate students engaged in the study of Physical Education and related activities administer financial and strategic techniques utilized in assigned sport(s) in intercollegiate competitions and do related work as required. Incumbent is responsible for supervising Assistant Coaches and student and/or other temporary help as assigned.

Job Duties:

  • Planning coordinating supervising and evaluating practices contests and related activities giving attention to each players mental and physical wellbeing. Develop competitive strategies necessary for individual and team achievement. Continually evaluate both individual and team performance.
  • In conjunction with Dean/Athletic Director lead in planning and scheduling competitions tournaments and events in collaboration with coaches and in concert with academic schedules Sierra College policy and California Community College Commission on Athletics (CCCAA) and Big 8 Conference regulations; distribute schedules to studentathletes department personnel and campus marketing/public relations personnel; collect and report subject sport statistics per CCCAA and Sierra College policies.
  • Create and promote a positive studentathlete experience; support academic progress retention and matriculation of studentathletes through mentoring activities; refer studentathletes to support services programs and other resources as appropriate; maintain confidential studentathlete information.
  • Recruit prospective student athletes adhering to the recruiting rules established by the CCCAA; provide referrals to prospective studentathletes to academic and student services as appropriate; maintain contact with prospective studentathletes and provide prompt followup to inquiries from potential studentathletes.
  • Ensure program compliance with the current CCCAA Constitution and Bylaws the Big 8 Conference Constitution and Bylaws the appropriate CCCAA Championship Handbook the appropriate Big 8 sport supplement and the appropriate sport rule book as identified in the CCCAA Constitution and Bylaws. Immediately report any compliance violations decorum violations or other issue to the Dean/Athletic Director.
  • Coordinate all fundraising efforts for the program in conjunction with the Dean/Athletic Director and Sierra College Foundation staff.
  • Annually submit a request for travel supplies and equipment to the Dean/Athletic Director. This includes pay to officials entry fees meal assistance game management and lodging.
  • Establish and maintain positive public relations with colleagues college faculty and staff and community members including students parents the press the surrounding high schools and other interested parties. Promote interest and attendance at athletic events as well as the achievements of both the team and individual studentathletes.

  • Work collaboratively with athletic trainers on eligibility physical examinations insurance claims and medical assistance for injured studentathlete and with Equipment Technician on issuing maintaining and inventorying uniforms and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a masters degree. The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty members teaching assignment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Comprehensive coaching experience in the sport of Basketball at the collegiate high school or club level.

Licenses:
First Aid and CPR Certificates issued by a recognized training program must be obtained within the first three months of employment.

Work Schedule:
Classes practices contests and travel will also take place on evenings and weekends.

Compensation:
Per Sierra College Faculty Association (SCFA) Contract this position will be paid a Head Coach Stipend of $11059.00. Additionally the selected candidate will be assigned both an Intercollegiate Softball course during the season of competition and an off season Softball Training course to be paid at the appropriate hourly rate. Additional teaching assignments may be available at the discretion of the Dean/Athletic Director not to exceed the Educational Code limits on parttime teaching. Please see information below regarding the compensation for the additional teaching assignments.

COMPENSATION
Placement on theDistricts Faculty Salary Schedule is dependent upon years of experience and level of education. Entrylevel is from $77.44 per hour (Lecture Rate)/$58.08 per hour (Lab/Counselor Rate) to $98.98 per hour (Lecture Rate)/$74.24 per hour (Lab/Counselor Rate) at the time of employment. The current highest salary attainable after employment is $127.21 per hour (Lecture Rate)/$95.41 per hour (Lab/Counselor Rate). Employees also will be members of the State Teachers Retirement System (STRS). Sick leave and other leaves are available according to the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
