Job
Summary:
- Assist with implementing the Colleges academic advising programs through individual and group advising.
- Provide academic advising support to transfer and returning students identified at risk for retention.
- Assist transfer students in understanding how their previous coursework aligns with Rollins requirements and help them develop academic plans that ensure timely graduation.
- Support returning students by helping them reintegrate into the academic environment.
- Coordinate proactive interventions based on each students unique academic and personal circumstances.
- Connect students to appropriate campus resources and academic support services.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Academic Advising and Support Services to ensure students receive the necessary interventions and support on time.
- Work with faculty staff and other college departments to provide holistic support and enhance the overall success of students.
- Stay current on best practices in academic advising and retention applying this knowledge to support the needs of transfer and returning students.
Minimum Qualifications & Education:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of two years of relevant work experience in the field of higher education academic advising or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in counseling social work or higher education.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication (written and oral).
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty staff and students.
- Proficiency with technology (e.g. scheduling software and recordkeeping)
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the mission of Rollins College.
Work Environment:
- Campusbased frontfacing position working in an office environment.
- Work requires visual strain and the use of a computer.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours to meet student needs including evening hours as appropriate based on the academic calendar. The schedule will be discussed during the interview process.
