Job Description
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Franciscan Physician Network is seeking a Trauma Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to meet the growing demand for trauma/surgical critical care and emergency general surgery care at Franciscan Health Crown Point in Crown Point IN. This provider will be joining our trauma program and supporting a steady wellestablished team of trauma physicians at the only verified trauma center in Northwest Indiana.
WHAT WE NEED:
Ideal candidate will have recent Trauma Surgery or Emergency Medicine experience. Candidate will have ACLS/PALS/BLS certifications or willing to become certified. Candidate will have a strong focus on clinical excellence and patient satisfaction. Provider will display exceptional interpersonal skills and a desire to develop strong ties with the community. Provider will need to work collaboratively with trauma service team to coordinate and deliver the highest quality of patient care.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:
- Flexible fulltime schedule
- Call responsibilities: 7 days per month
- Function as the Advanced Practice Provider to a group of trauma/surgical critical care and emergency general surgery patients
- Perform complete and accurate trauma history and physical consultation note or daily progress note according to established protocols
- Act as first assist for surgical interventions complete consults H&Ps rounding with trauma service team (surgeon PI coordinator manager)
- Manage/discharge trauma/surgery patients from various settings in conjunction with attending physician and/or trauma team leader
- Obtain health history and perform physical exam in order to determine diagnosis and treatment plan in accordance with established standards procedures and practices
- Requisition laboratory tests and radiological exams as appropriate
- Manage Trauma Service Team with attending physician
- Coordination of transfers and discharge planning with the case managers and/or social workers
- Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:
- Masters Degree Required
- Physician Assistant Certified (PAC) Required or
- Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Nationally Recognized Certification Required
- Basic Life Support Program (BLS) American Heart Association Required
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) within 6 months of hire Required
