Note:All new hires start at$51.71 per hour and all shifts and job information will be governed by ATU seniority and the union agreement. Please note: this position will require the flexibility to work days nights evenings and weekends.
What you would do in this job
Completesthe work to inspect repair maintain and test facility electrical equipment and coordinates work activities with other maintenance and operation personnel.
Works with construction projects on related activities such as design installation startup and revise design plans as needed.
Coordinates activities such retrofitting removing/installing equipment and coordinates activities with engineering staff.
Performs routine circuit tests and maintenance.
Directs the inspecting adjusting calibrating and testing of metering and recording devices.
Oversees apprentice and upgrade of licenses for other electricians and provides support to increase their skills and training.
Responsible for the security inventory needs and approving purchases.
Reviews jobs update permits keeps Metro Transit compliant with all codes and regulations.
Ensure safety procedures and notify supervisor of hazardous equipment of activities.
Coordinates work activities
Performs other duties as assigned.
What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications)
Education:Graduate of two year vocational/technical program in electrician construction or similar electrical licensing program.
Experience: Completion of state electrician journeyman apprentice program.Completion of required continuing education courses tomaintain active license. Experience in all aspects of assembling installing maintaining and testing electrical equipment and wiring systems in a commercial/industrial setting. Applicants must have extensive experience in the service diagnosis and repair of electrical equipment in a commercial/industrial environment.
License Requirements:
A current Minnesota State Journeyman Electrical License.
Ability to obtain a Class A drivers License (training will be provided by Metro Transit).
A valid drivers license and anacceptable driving record.

Work Environment:Work is performed in Metro Transit facilities buildings and outdoors. Some travel is required. May require working in wet or hot humid nonweather conditions and in high precarious places. Exposure to hazardous physical conditions such as mechanical parts electrical currents and vibration atmospheric conditions such as fumes odors dusts gases and poor ventilation hazardous materials such as chemicals extreme temperatures inadequate lighting and work space restricts movement and intense noise may occur on the job.
Physical Requirements: May require standing walking talking or hearing using hands to finger handle or feeling and reaching with hands and arms lifting up to 50 pounds. May have to work near moving parts or equipment in the presence of fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations. Works in high precarious places and confined spaces. Operated aerial equipment lift and climb ladders. Must be able to identify and distinguish colors. May also be required to lift more than 100 pounds with assistance.

A driving record check and/or physical may be conducted if applicable to the job. If you have a criminal conviction you do not automatically fail. The Metropolitan Council considers felony gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor convictions on a casebycase basis based on whether they are related to the job and whether the candidate has demonstrated adequate rehabilitation.
