The Role
The National Bee Diagnostic Centre (NBDC) located on the Beaverlodge Research Farm in Beaverlodge Alberta is looking for atemporaryResearch Assistant Project Coordinator. The major responsibility of this position is to coordinate logistics of NBDC applies research projects and to support the scientist and the manager of the NBDC. This position is a temporary appointment with hours assigned by supervisor as per timesheet and for immediate start.
Typical duties may include but are not limited to the following specific duties:
Identify contact and engage with local producers industry associations community groups and research partners (researchers and faculty) involved in the project.
Coordinate local sampling trips and assure proper description of research sites.
Monitor shipping and receiving of research samples.
Prepare quotes and purchase orders of consumables for the project.
Managedatasets prepare slides for posters and presentations and design graphics for publications.
Provide excellent customer service to project participants. Being a point of contact for all research project inquiries and presentations.
Prepare reports for participant producers and address their questions and concerns.
Support the Research Associate and Manager in their interactions with local producers.
Provide expertise on bee management (honey bees leafcutting bees etc. and assist developing specialized training content.
Work with internal and external stakeholders to conceptualize relevant promotional material.
Develop promotional material and target communications for specific projects and initiatives.
Create/schedule media release working together with Research Facilitator and NWP Communications office.
Prepare instructional materials for sampling and project communication.
Assist with reporting on NBDC applied research projects including record keeping of program planning minutes of meeting with stakeholders and evaluation feedback forms.

We will select candidates with varying levels of qualifications education and/or experience. Successful candidate will have formal education/training in Biological Science Agricultural Science Soil Science Food Production Permaculture or Animal Science (certificate diploma BSc etc.. A minimum of 5 years experiences in Regenerative Agriculture and/or Agriculture System in the Peace Country Region. Intermediate computer skills and a research background are desirable: i.e. database programs and Microsoft Office suite. Strong graphic design or photography skill set would be an asset. Class 5 drivers license is required.
