Job Description
The Birches Academy is a STEAM integrated public charter school located in Salem NH. The mission of the Birches Academy is to provide excellence in core academics and the arts while cultivating the individual qualities and strengths of each child. This position is for a middle school math teacher working with grades 6 to 8 in middle school.Curriculum will be aligned with The Common Core (Big Ideas Math program) but will have an additional focus on integration higher order thinking and the individuality of each student. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience in middle school math and will be committed to project based and technological learning and innovative approaches in education. Job Description Responsibilities: Plan and implement a rigorous core academic program with a thematic approach to curriculumWork with colleagues to integrate the arts into the core curriculumCommitment to incorporate technology within lessons/projectsAssess students using a variety of assessment tools (such as: rubrics portfolio and exhibitions)Provide emotionally and developmentally appropriate experience for studentsFacilitate the learning process of students by giving critical feedback in a timely manner Adjust instruction to engage and challenge learners to encourage independent learning and to develop a lifelong love of learning in studentsDevelop (with parents and students) and follow a Personal Learning Plan for each studentManage student learning and behaviorCommunicate effectively with parents and communityWork as a professional member of a schoolwide teaching teamWork with administration to meet terms of the charterQualifications: *Experience teaching middle school math Masters Degree*2 Years experience preferredCurrent teacher certification (not required) or significant teaching experience
