Part Time Access Coordinator- Neurology

ChristianaCares Outpatient Neurology is looking to hire a Part Time Access Coordinator to support the departments Focused Ultrasound (FUS) unit.

The Access Coordinator is responsible for obtaining benefits and precertification/prior authorizations for imaging testing and Medications.

This position will be situated at our Health Care Center (HCCC) in Newark and will potentially cross cover at our Whitehall (Middletown) practice on Tuesdays.

Work Schedule:

• Mondays to Fridays

• No weekends or holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and prioritize incoming patient orders.

• Obtain authorization via payor website or by phone.

• Verify patients insurance benefits.

• Evaluate portions to be paid and notify the patients of their deductibles and coinsurance amount.

• Contact the referring office to obtain any referrals required.

• Gather information needed to complete the prior authorization and contact patients as needed to obtain additional information.

• Performs daily operational duties such as insurance verification/preauthorization utilizing Powerchart Soarian Revenue Cycle and insurance website systems.

• Update patients on reason for denial.

• Regularly follow up with the status of the authorization.

• Initiate appeals for denied authorizations.

• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma

• At least 2 years prior authorization experience preferred

• Familiar with medical terminology

• Possess professional phone etiquette

• Ability to apply good verbal and written communication
