Job Description
General Surgery is recruiting for an NP/PA to join the service line. This position will be responsible for caring for acute general surgery patients within the hospital emergency department and clinic. The ideal candidate is a person who thrives in a highly collaborative environment. This person will work with a multidisciplinary team of general surgery and trauma staff surgical residents medical/surgical subspecialties nurses and rehabilitation staff.
Basic duties include managing an acute care general surgery service. This includes seeing new consultations in both the emergency room and hospital rounding on hospital patients complex care coordination as well as outpatient clinic practice. There are teaching opportunities as well. In addition the NP/PA will support the general surgeon team with doing H&Ps consultations treatment planning pre and postop care and collaboration of care posthospital discharge. Work hours will include four 10hour day shifts with a rotation of Monday through Sunday; rotation includes an average of every third weekend. A Wisconsin license and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program is required.
