Job Overview:
The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing planning implementing and evaluating nursing care to meet the physical social spiritual and psychological needs of patients. Working under the Patient Care Manager the Staff Nurse collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to provide highquality care in line with Providence Health Cares values and standards.

Your Day to Day
Monitors patient/resident progress: Evaluates outcomes reassesses if goals are not met and modifies the plan of care based on evaluations.
Direct nursing interventions: Provides care during crisis and lifethreatening situations.
Documentation: Records observations assessments progress and discharge plans in both manual and computerized environments.
Patient/family education: Identifies learning needs provides educational materials leads teaching sessions and makes referrals to other resources.
Team collaboration: Directs and supports staff such as Care Attendants and Licensed Practical Nurses ensuring effective teamwork and task delegation.
Nursing orientation and education: Participates in nursing orientation shares clinical knowledge with nursing staff and students and attends educational programs as required.
Policy and practice improvement: Participates in planning implementation and evaluation of patient/resident care policies procedures and best practices.
Supports nursing research: Identifies areas for clinical nursing research adapts research to practice and engages in research activities to enhance nursing practice.
Discharge planning: Facilitates discharge plans liaises with families and coordinates with community resource agencies.
Advocacy: Advocates for patients/residents ensuring their rights to dignity respect privacy confidentiality autonomy and access to information are protected.
