ChristianaCare is seeking an Emergency Department Nurse Manager for our Christiana Emergency Department reporting to our Emergency Department Director. The primary function of the Nurse Manager is to assume 24hour accountability and responsibility for excellence in the clinical and operational practice of nursing and the delivery of patient care in the Newark Emergency Department which is ANCC Magnet designated unit within Christiana Care Health Services. Highlights:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assures compliance with regulatory and professional standards.
Identifies priorities of leadership and management responsibilities and demonstrates the ability to delegate.
Enables a relationship based care approach to care delivery on assigned unit.
Performs routine leader rounds on patients and caregivers on assigned unit to establish visibility teamwork and monitoring the level of care/practice.
Remains cognizant of risk management issues and takes appropriate measures to address.
Supports and communicates department and unit based quality and safety initiatives.
Manages nursing practice and care delivery in designated unit.
Promotes the autonomy of the nursing staff encouraging independent decision making and problem solving.
Supports and facilitates a culture of nursing professional governance on unit.
Formulates and effectively executes innovative leadership strategies to promote excellence.
Responsible for staffing and scheduling allocating paid time off to meet staffing needs for unit census.
Maintains position control in a costeffective manner.
Interviews and hires potential employees assuring the technical and professional development of staff.
Coaches disciplines and evaluates staff according to CCHS policy.
Maintains accurate employee files including licensure of professional staff.
Plans holds and documents monthly staff meetings communicating all appropriate information.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of the unit budget in collaboration with the Director/VP of Patient Care Services.
