Job Title: Apprentice Multiskilled Technician

Location: We have opportunities available across our region: West Sussex East Sussex Kent and Hampshire.

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week Monday Friday

Salary: 19160 per annum

Timelines: The application deadline is Sunday 4th May and all candidates will have received an update on their application by Friday 16th May. We will be holding assessment centres in June and the successful candidates will commence their role in September 2025.

Job Overview

Southern Water are currently looking for several Apprentice Multiskilled Technicians to join us across our region: East Sussex West Sussex Hampshire & Kent.

With the full support of a dedicated Mentor and Line Manager our Apprentice Multiskilled Technicians maintain repair modify configure commission calibrate and install all plant instrumentation control and monitoring equipment with the support of a dedicated mentor. They also shutdown systems alarms and telemetry across our region in both water and waste water functions to ensure that it is operating efficiently and effectively on a continuous basis.

As an Apprentice duties that youll undertake with full support can include but arent limited to:

  • Supporting technicians with daily operations repairs installations to ensure the effectively and continuous operations of Southern water sites and assets.
  • Completing planned maintenance tasks & make recommendations for improvement on existing and new assets.
  • Responding to instrumentation faults within SW parameters as guided by Dispatch.
  • Undertake investigative work on instruments and process problems on water and wastewater plants as required identifying any faults and implementing remedial action.

Training Overview

The apprentice programme will teach you the key principles relating to the operation and maintenance of appropriate plant and equipment combined with industry specific training and work experience. The programme will also provide you experience to our company operations through specific placements in relevant business units. By completion of the programme you will be proficient in all areas of being a Multiskilled Technician and have a thorough understanding of the specific context at Southern Water. At the end of your programme you will gain a Level 3 BTEC NVQ as a Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician.

Progression

Once qualified our Multiskilled Technicians are well positioned to progress their careers into Field Performance Management Project Management Engineering or Asset Reliability depending on where their passion lies!

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have the following:

This role will be full time Monday to Friday. You will predominantly be sitebased and will also attend classroombased learning sessions 1 day per week.
