Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Torontos subway system to get people where they need to go better faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Operations GO&UP Finance is providing strategic financial support and insights to our operations team driving datadriven decisions and optimizing business performance. The Senior Financial Analystwill provide advice and act as a support for GO&UP Operations finance teamfor effective management and will be accountable for implementing robust processes.
Term of contract: 21 months
What will I be doing
- Provides finance forecasting and reports (e.g. variance and costrecovery analysis reconciliation of accounts) prepares entries and takes corrective action
- Conducts financial analyses in support of the business operations in the assigned division using proper accounting treatment;provides subject matter expertise in analyzing and responding to inquiries and solving complex problems
- Creates and applies reporting templates financial models and automated processes to meet legal and corporate standards including meeting deadlines
- Supports internal and external clients and provides analyses reports and financial tools
- Works closely with internal and external auditors and other consultants to maintain financial integrity of the business and increase understanding of financial applications controls and standards
- Develops commentary and presentations on financial analysis and reports for senior management and presents them to aid decisionmaking
- Tests new functionality from an accounting/financial control perspective and provides impact assessments
- Recommends process and control improvements (e.g. automating technology or accounting practices) and provides clear standards of practice protocols and direction for internal and external partners
- Exercises due diligence in fiscal management and reporting independently and when part of a project delivery team to reduce financial legal and reputational risks.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Experience with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) principles
- Knowledge of business practices financial analysis and reporting;understands the financial and accounting impact of business processes to evaluate current and future business activities (e.g. audit legal and reporting requirements)
- MS Office (Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint etc. and Oracle
- Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation communication skills todevelop and present commentary reports and presentations on financial analysis to senior management to aid decisionmaking
- Demonstrate years progressive experience infinancial modeling data specialist financial analysis and reporting functions.
