Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Texas team. You will be responsible for successfully delivering building projects or working as part of a large team on major projects. Responsibilities include developing concepts and producing designs as well as collaborating with senior engineers and other disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Initiatives- Seek ways to improve mechanical engineering design processes.
- Identify new trends in mechanical engineering and apply them to projects.
- Guide the development of Revit tools to enhance productivity.
Project Management & Technical Improvement 10 of time)- Manage manpower estimates communications budget monitoring and deliverables organization.
- Develop typical details specifications and drawing standards.
- Collaborate with the BIM team to develop Revit standards.
- Stay updated on industry changes and recommend new approaches and services.
- Improve analytic processes and documentation focusing on common and critical solutions.
- Commit to excellent internal and external client service.
Project Responsibilities 90 of time)- Engineer mechanical systems for large or complex projects from concept through construction and commissioning.
- Provide design inputs and reviews on engineering projects.
- Lead or support specific project segments collaborating with senior engineers.
- Attend client meetings and promote positive client relations.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing systems and develop renovation strategies.
- Oversee quality progress and compliance during project construction.
- Ensure timely and budgetconscious project delivery.
- Mentor junior engineering staff and seek technical guidance from senior staff.
Business Development- Support business development initiatives by providing project writeups and presentations.
- Assist with fee estimates and assumptions for mechanical engineering on potential projects.
Performance Evaluation

- Design Quality: Level of integration unique solutions and recognition for excellence.
- Work Quality: Completeness of design minimization of change orders and client satisfaction.

Required Skills
Project Management- Experience engineering and delivering projects ranging from $20M to over $100M.
- Strong collaboration skills working across multiple practices within HOK.
- Clear communication skills both verbal and written with an understanding of industry protocols.
- Ability to set monitor and deliver projects on budget.
- Strong leadership skills in project management and multidisciplinary team coordination.
- Ability to mentor and teach junior staff.
Technical- Creative problemsolving for complex mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with sustainable technologies relevant to mechanical engineering.
- Proficiency in Revit.
- Natural ventilation design experience is a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Masters preferred).
- Licensed PE.
- NCEES record allowing registration in any state (preferred if not licensed in Texas).
- Minimum 5 years of project engineering experience including at least one highprofile project.
- LEED Green Associate accreditation (preferred).
- Experience with science & technology projects.
- Successful track record on major projects exceeding $50M.
- Experience working in integrated teams.
- Experience designing and delivering LEED Silver or higher projects.
- Expertise in mechanical systems design and analysis for large complex buildings.
- Experience with large central plants various chiller and boiler configurations and DDC controls.
- Proficiency with complex analysis tools and energy modeling.
- Knowledge of calculating sizing and specifying mechanical equipment (AHUs pumps chillers etc..
- Experience with thermal comfort modeling is a plus.
- Experience with construction administration and commissioning phases particularly problem analysis and solutions.
