Building Maintenance: General Maintenance position provides a wide variety of carpentry/construction tasks to ensure the safe and efficient operation of school buildings ensuring compliance with accessibility and safety codes/regulations. This position reports directly to the Director of Facilities in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Facilities.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Analyzes blueprints schematics and drawings to determine the efficient completion of a projectResponsible for building and repairing frameworks supports and simple wooden structures using scaffolding and ladders.Responsible for the maintenance repair and construction of cabinets furniture doors floor tiles (all materials) Responsible for the repair of drywall and moving or altering of notload bearing walls as neededResponsible for the repair of window mechanisms and installation of glassResponsible for roofing repairs including but not limited to flashing coping drains holes or tears in membranes.Responsible for the repair of concrete and asphalt pathways stairs recess yards etc..Regularly informs the Facilities Administration staff verbally and in writing to document the progress and status of projects (e.g. work order status activity logs etc.)Responsible for the safe operation of hand and power toolsParticipates in meetings workshops trainings and seminars to convey and/or gather information required to perform job functions.Maintains and transports tools supplies and equipment to ensure the availability of materials required at a job site.Requests equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure the availability of items required to complete the projectAs directed perform plowing and snow removal operations.Ability to perform other duties assigned by the Director or Assistant Director of Facilities to meet the specific needs of the Pawtucket School Department and its students.
