Description

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Clinical Consultant to oversee clinical services at the Childrens Crisis Stabilization Unit (CCSU). This position ensures that clinical services meet the organizations standards including direct care and the necessary documentation. The Clinical Consultant provides expert guidance and support in managing and treating children and adults facing mental health crises offering immediate interventions and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. This candidate will be expected to demonstrate the core values of AMHC by showing Integrity Compassion Excellence Service Collaboration and Respect to coworkers clients and community members.


Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals in crisis to evaluate their mental health risk factors and immediate needs. This may include identifying signs of trauma depression anxiety or other psychological disorders.
  • Developing Treatment Plans: Work with nurses therapists social workers and other professionals to create individualized treatment plans for clients in crisis encompassing therapy medication management and behavioral interventions.
  • Providing Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate support for individuals in acute distress utilizing deescalation techniques supportive counseling and safety planning.
  • Training and Supervision: Provide guidance and training to paraprofessional staff on best practices for crisis care including traumainformed care and childspecific interventions.
  • Collaboration with Families and External Resources: Engage families in the treatment process ensuring communication between all systems of care to promote continuity and effective coordination.
  • Developing Protocols and Procedures: Create and refine protocols to manage individuals in crisis ensuring a structured safe and compassionate environment.
  • Consultation and Support: Offer expert consultation to paraprofessionals on complex cases provide emotional support to staff and ensure ethical care delivery.
  • Interdisciplinary Teamwork: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals attend team meetings and contribute clinical insight to progress toward treatment goals.

Schedule:

  • This is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Employees are expected to cover weekends evenings overnights (awake) and holidays. Due to the unpredictable nature of the role employees may be asked to cover during scheduled time off or stay late as needed. Compensation policies are outlined in the AMHC Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual.

Requirements
  • Licensure as a Social Worker Clinical Professional Counselor Marriage and Family Counselor or Clinical Psychologist in the State of Maine.
  • Ability to pass a background check and meet other regulatory requirements.
