Purpose Statement
The job of Classroom Monitor is done for the purpose/s of providing supervision of students of all ages in classrooms common areas of the school including the playground and lunchroom. Assist classroom teacher and paraeducators by providing student supervision and assistance to all students including those who have severe physical and mental disabilities.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform single tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skillbased competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; read and follow instructions; and understand written and oral instructions. Specific knowledgebased competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: stages of child development and learning styles; and ageappropriate activities.
ABILITY is required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with and utilize jobrelated equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific abilitybased competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; setting priorities; working as part of a team; and working with constant interruptions.

Responsibilities include working with immediate classroom teacher; leading guiding and/or coordinating others.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling some stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling and some fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 5 sitting 45 walking 50 standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment.
Experience: Job related experience is desired but not required.
